Fate (Karma) or Work – Which is important for our life in future?
“Ujjwal Kumar” asked like this:
“Hare Krishna Prabhuji. Karmam (present work) or fate which is more powerful? Because many people like me waste their time simply that whatever is in our fortune that will happen. But there are also some people who don’t depend on luck and work hard.”
REPLY:
Do you know why Krishna advised in Bhagavad Gita to perform our duties effectively but without expecting the results?
He indirectly supports believing the Fate or Work.
How?
He advises to perform the duties properly.
But, He also advises us to avoid expectations and accept whatever result we get.
(Is it good idea to stop working to avoid new karma? READ HERE!)
Whatever result means, the result that we get as per our karma, ie, fate.
Why can’t Krishna advise to work thinking of Him and He will give the same result we expect?
This is the difference between Krishna and other gods and religions.
We know almost all other religions say that we can fulfill all our wishes by praying to this god or that god.
The people too worship those gods. If their wishes are fulfilled, they praise their god. If their wishes are not fulfilled, they get confused why their gods did not fulfill their desires.
We are also seeing many HUMANS who are worshiped as gods saying that they will fulfill all the desires of their followers. Some DECEASED HUMANS are also advertised by their followers as if fulfilling the desires of people.
In reality, a remarkable section of those followers are suffering in life. But, they preach as if their gods are fulfilling their desires.
But, the reality is that every happening in our life is determined by our karma, ie, fate.

So, if you ask whether Fate (Karma) or Work – Which is important for our life in future, Krishna recommends working without expecting, that means leaving the results to the karma.
You may ask: Then, How the successful persons and world’s richest people have tasted success?
Simple.
As a person who have analyzed thousands of horoscopes, I can say that those hard workers become successful as their horoscopes, ie, karma, ie, fate permit and encourage it.
Last week, I analyzed the horoscope of a successful employee who retired from service five years ago. He started a big business in his age 60+. Even after five years, he could not earn even a single rupee as barriers were coming one after another.
When I analyzed his horoscope, I found that he can earn very well by working for others, but, he can’t earn through own business.
Ha Ha, in my own case, initially, I started my business as a Private limited company having my mother as a director and me as managing director. I added my mother’s name just because two persons were needed to form a private limited company. She was actually a housewife of 65 years age at that time.
At that time, ie, in my twenties, I had not learnt vedic horoscope astrology.
I too thought that hard work can never fail.
But, my earnings were very poor in spite of my hard work. I was caught by loans plus interest accumulating Rs.24 lakhs.

When I learnt horoscope astrology, I found that my mother has no karma/ fate of earning even a single rupee but she can just be a good housewife.
So, I dissolved that private limited company and ran the same business as the Sole Proprietorship firm in my name alone.
What happened next?
I have explained in many posts how I cleared all those loans of Rs.24 lakhs within 2-3 years by following devotional practices and also working sincerely in my business.
I came out of loans and started to do well in my business.
What this shows?
Since my mother had no fate/ karma of earning, I could not earn when I was keeping her as a director. But, I had the karma of earning and hence I cleared all the loans when I did business in my name alone.
Since I had the karma of renouncement after my age 50, as predicted by myself, in my age 50, my mother died and I became a guy who has no other way than to lead a renounced life as I have finished my essential duties for family members.

After my mother’s passing away, Krishna made me to desert that material business also as I had to live for the devotee community as per my horoscope/ karma. Then, Krishna made me successful in my devotional service that all of you know.
So, I can say, if a person has the permission of his karma, he can shine in his work/efforts. If he has no karma of succeeding in a particular activity, whatever he tries, he can’t succeed. When that person identifies what his recommended activity is and focus in it, he too can succeed in it.
Material Pharmaceutical businesses did not satisfy Srila prabhupada too though he tried again and again. But, when he acted as directed by his guru, he became a great acharya. Same person – faced difficulties in his business, but faced thumping success in his spiritual mission.
The richest persons became so when their karma allowed their hard work and/or intelligence to become successful.
Even those richest persons suddenly face downtrend.
Mallaiya was once flying in the sky when he had good period; Then, he had to leave the country when he faced bad time/ fate.
In Tamilnadu, two powerful ex-chief ministers could not rule for their full term though they got thumping success in the elections, as they died within an year or two.

Even many beggars get dozens of children, but, some rich persons could not get even one child.
A person who was once selling tea became the Powerful Prime minister of the world’s largest democracy, India.
A person who was selling newspapers in the railway stations became a popular nuclear brain and Scientist and then the president of India.
So, if you ask whether Fate (Karma) or Work – Which is important for our life in future, we can understand that Fate (Karma) makes everything.
When the time is favourable, our efforts get success.
When the time is unfavourable, we suffer.
What should happen at what time is already fixed by our karma network.
By following sincere devotional life, we can attain the maturity of accepting both the positives and negatives of life as inevitable.
By following the advices of Krishna, we can use the material problems to reduce our attachment with the material desires and go closer to Krishna.
Thus, we can make our negative fate of material life as the positive blessings to go closer to Krishna.
So, the message is: Take efforts; If you fail, try again with more effective planning; If you again fail, understand that it is not the goal of your life. So, embrace Krishna and dedicate for His service. It will never fail.
Our efforts will be successful when it is allowed by karma network.
