How the Holy Places Purify all including the most sinful persons?
A woman devotee (Name hidden) asked like this:
“Prabhuji.. Dandwat pranam. Prabhuji, It is said to visit tirth sthan, Dham yatra for ones purification.. Shouldn’t the people living in these places be satvic? Shouldn’t there b a satvic environment in these places. Satvic mindset in the people living there? Hare Krishna”

Ha Ha. Very Interesting question.
Only if a person realizes the spiritual importance of the holy places and visits or lives there, he will get purified faster.
If he has no faith in the spiritual importance of the holy places, he will first be made to develop faith in those places and then get purified. It may take more time, even births.
Why it is so? Let us see some examples:
A medicine will be MORE effective ONLY IF it is taken with full faith that it will cure our ailments. If not, it is just a liquid.
Bhagavad Gita will be MORE effective ONLY IF it is read with the faith that it is spoken by Krishna for our elevation. If not, it is just a book of advices.
Accepting a person as our guru will be MORE effective ONLY IF we consider him as the representative of Krishna who can clear our ignorance and who can purify us. If not, he is just a man.

Accepting a girl as wife in marriage will be MORE effective ONLY IF the boy considers the girl’s heart and her needs as a girl. If not, She is just a tool for s….x for him.
The Currency note may seem to be the most important need for a materialistic person, but, the same currency note may be just a paper for a fully renounced sanyasi.
The Thaali (Mangal sutra) is MORE valuable similar to the husband himself if the girl considers it as the inseparable ornament for her. If not, it is just a thread.
Thus, the effects depend on our bhava with which we approach something.
Same applies in the case of holy dhams also. The Holy Places Purify all including the most sinful persons faster if they have faith or slower if they don’t have faith.
In Vrindavan, there are people who call other women as Radhe and men as Krishna. There are people who considers themselves fortunate to live in the land of Vrindha, Radha and Krishna.
There are hundreds of sages, saints, dedicated devotees, common people, merchants, etc who consider Vrindavan as a holy place and follow an offense-free life. They will get elevated faster.

You have asked this question whether the holy places purify everyone residing there, thinking that all are the pure devotees there.
It is not so. We should not judge the purity of a devotee just by seeing the appearance. These are the symbols or uniform codes recommended for those who follow Vaidhi bhakti to make their faith grow.
Once a devotee attains the stage of Prema, he does not require these Symbols, codes, etc., because he will always be in the thoughts of Krishna and will see Krishna in everyone and everything.
The Gopis did not follow any sadhanas and codes. Because, they were already in the thoughts of Krishna alone all the time – even while they were doing their household duties for their husbands and family.
All the sadhanas are meant to make us to remember Krishna all the time.
The people in Vrindavana who are aware of the spiritual importance of Vrindavana, are already in the thoughts of Krishna all the time. So, they may look like ordinary people, but, still they are the blessed souls.
And, in this kaliyuga, you can’t expect all the people to be good people in any place where there are thousands of people.
Even in the temples, there may be some small percentage of violators.
Among the people who live in Vrindavana, those who are aware of the spiritual importance of that holy place will follow purity by avoiding the offenses and violations in that land. So, that faith will give them a good spiritual life in Vrindavana and also liberation and life in the Goloka Vrindavana after this life.
But, those who do not have any idea about the spiritual importance of Vrindavan, those who are atheists and those who do not have full faith in the spiritual importance of Vrindavana will involve in some violations.
Even when Krishna was there in Dwaraka, there were pros……tutes in Dwaraka. Though they were doing that profession, they had great love for Krishna.

Even now, that profession is going on in India’s Vrindavana.
Even the holy lands of Vrindavana are sold by the real estate people.
But, the demons will always exist in every corner of this planet. Even when Krishna came there, He had to face and defeat the demons who were sent to Gokula to kill Him.
So, those who live in Vrindavan with full faith in its spiritual importance, will lead a regulated and pure life. For those faithful people, Radharani and Krishna will definitely offer life in their kingdom.
Those who do not realize its spiritual importance will involve in violations.
Those who are commercial minded, will use the holy land of Vrindavana to make money.
These things are unavoidable. Wherever you go in this planet, you will find both the pious and demonic people.

Only when a person likes to reform himself by being in Vrindavan will be purified. Until he wishes, Krishna will not take steps to purify them.
Only if a person takes a holy bath in Ganges with the full faith in the purifying power of the Ganges, he will be purified. Those who do not realize the greatness of Ganga as a great purifier from the sins, can’t be purified.
So, one should have faith in the facts mentioned in the scriptures about how the holy places purify and rivers to get qualified to be purified.
However those who do not get faith, will get qualify to get purified in due course of time in future because of the cleansing power of Vrindavan, Yamuna, ganga, etc.
Faithful people get purified fast; Others may take more time to get purified. So, they may be involving in the offensive acts and violations. First, they will face some serious punishments for their offenses in Vrindavan and then they will get purified and then elevated.
Thus, the Holy places will purify everyone, but the time required for this purification may vary according to the faith the person has in the holy places and the level of Violations/ sins the devotees have made.
