ROLE OF LORD SIVA AND PARVATI IN RAMAYANA!

ROLE OF LORD SIVA AND PARVATI IN RAMAYANA!

(i) WAS SIVA AND PARVATI PRESENT DURING RAMAVATAR?

Yes,  Siva and Sati, ie Uma, ie, parvati  were always alive and they existed even during Rama Avatar and Krishna avatar also.  When Lord Rama decided to go to Sri Lanka, he was discussing with his vanar associates (monkeys).  Then, He also consulted Lord Siva.  Siva came in person to that place, Rameshvaram in Tamilnadu, and gave an idea to Lord Rama to construct a bridge between that place and Sri Lanka.  Siva will take part in all avatars of Lord and in fact, Siva and Parvathi are regularly watching the lilas and activities performed by the Lord in every avatar.  Even in Mahabharatha, we have a whole chapter that describes the discussion between Siva and Parvati.

(ii) DID PARVATI REALLY TEST LORD RAMA?

Yes,  Parvati tested Lord Rama.  It is an interesting story.

With grief and  despair on the sudden disappearance of Sita, Lord Rama wandered in the forest in search of her in desperation.   In the course of His wandering with Lakshmana, Lord Siva and Mother Parvati happened to pass by.    Lord Siva on seeing Rama, saluted and resumed His journey.

The intrigued Mother Parvati asked Lord Siva for the reason for Shiva to salute Rama, who was an ordinary human being, swayed by emotions.   Lord Siva replied that though Rama was cloaked in a human form, He was the incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

However, Parvati wanted to test whether Rama is really Vishnu, or just human being.   So, . Mother Parvati in the guise of Sita with the motive to test Rama appeared before Rama.

On seeing Parvati, Rama asked as to why she was there and where Lord Siva was?

Mother Parvati was visibly abashed and confessed the motive behind her disguise.  She also realised that Lord Rama was Lord Vishnu Himself.

(iii) Hanuman is considered and mentioned as Siva amsam, ie, a form of Lord Siva.

(iv) Ravana was a dedicated Siva devotee.

(v) Ravana used Rudra Veena and Siva stotra.

(vi) Siva bow is broken by Rama and married Sita.

These are a few examples for the ROLE OF LORD SIVA AND PARVATI IN RAMAYANA!    In another Post, we can see the role of Lord Siva in Mahabharatha.
