HOW TO AVOID KARMA WHILE WORKING! 10 PRACTICAL EXAMPLES!
A male devotee asked like this:
“Can someone become free of material karma but not yet be free of material desire? Jai Shri Krishna”
REPLY:
Impossible.
Because, as said by Krishna in Bhagavad Gita, every action has been surrounded by reactions like fire is surrounded by smoke.
So, whatever action we do for satisfying our material desires will definitely fetch reactions.
(FIVE QUESTIONS AND REPLIES ON HOW KARMA WORKS CAN BE READ HERE!)
Let me explain this with some examples:
AVOID KARMA WHILE WORKING -(1):
Let us first take a genuine activity itself. You are doing a business. You have employed some workers in it. You pay for them. Are we paying the right wages for their actions? Will all the workers get satisfied that the wages compensate their work done? No. You would have derived work from them equal to the wage of Rs.1000 per day, but, you will pay just Rs.500-600. So, we are sucking their performance and get more profitsfrom their work. But, we pay less to them. They may be struggling to pay for their daily life activities and hence they may borrow from outside. So, we become indebted to these workers. This adds to our karma.
(Can we escape from karma if we do not do any activity? KNOW HERE!)
What to do to avoid this karma?
We have to understand the basic needs of a worker and pay accordingly and sufficiently to your level best. Even if we pay them right wages, we will still be earning more profits. So, we have to spend the part of the profits for the service of Krishna. By doing this, we will be getting the remaining genuine profit that is suitable for our performance. So, the karma will be nullified because we spend the profit beyond our needs for Krishna.
AVOID KARMA WHILE WORKING -(2):
While doing our business, we usually magnify the specifications of our products and explain to the customers a false picture about this product.
“If you use this product, it will work for 15 years. In case it becomes damaged within 5 years, we will replace the product as this covers 5 years warranty”
What will happen?
When the product does not work after 3 years and the customer brings the same to us, we tell them a false justification:
“Sorry sir. You must have mishandled it , otherwise it will not become faulty within this short period. So, warrenty does not cover when the product is mishandled”
This is an escape from our assurance. Breach of trust. So, we add karma.

What to do to escape from karma?
We have to keep up our words and give him a new product as replacement. And, we must involve a part of the profit in that business in the service of Krishna.
AVOID KARMA WHILE WORKING -(3):
When we study material studies, say, in a college, we will discuss with our co-student about some unwanted topics while the teacher is sincerely taking classes. This is also an indiscipline that adds to karma.
What to do to avoid this karma?
We have to follow college rules and do studies sincerely and earn later and chant atleast a round and support the services of Krishna. Thus, we can avoid karma in studies.

AVOID KARMA WHILE WORKING -(4):
When we marry, we should marry a girl to perform Krishna Conscious activities together and lead a life recommended by sastras for married couples. Instead of doing so, if we involve in material sex life and get a child and cultivate him as a material guy who does not involve in Krishna bakthi, then, we add karma out of that married life.
How to avoid karma in marriage life?
We have to marry to serve Krishna better with spouse. And, we will have to involve in sex life according to the recommendations of sastras. And, we have to cultivate the child as a devotee of lord. Then, its a good grahastha life that is meant for the service of Krishna.

AVOID KARMA WHILE WORKING -(5):
You may help a materialistic guy when he asks you. You pay him Rs.1000 out of compassion. That guy takes it and drink liquor and then beats his wife. So, you stand as the cause for the pain of an innocent wife. So, karma.
What to do to avoid karma in such helps?
Help only for the persons who are genuinely in need after verifying the same. If he is a devotee, who is genuinely struggling in his life, you can help.
What will happen if you help a GENUINE GUY, but is not a devotee?
Then, you add good karma of helping a genuine material guy. To enjoy the fruits of this good karma, you will have to take another birth with good financial status and you will be helped by many in your next birth.
So, even good karma leads to another birth.

AVOID KARMA WHILE WORKING -(6):
If you are cooking for Krishna, the microorganisms that die while cooking get elevated to higher births because they die when a food is cooked for Krishna. But, if you cook for satisfying the belly of yourself and your children, then, you are killing thousands of microorganisms. So, you add the karma of killing them.
What to do to avoid karma in cooking?
Cook for Krishna delisiously. Offer that food to Krishna and then honour that prasadam along with your family. As you cooked for Krishna, you will not add the karma of killing micor-organisms, and it will be nullified as they die while cooking for Krishna.
AVOID KARMA WHILE WORKING -(7):
If you read a material novel or magazine, and if you kill an insect while folding/ turning the pages of a book, you add karma of killing that insect. But, when you read Bhagavad Gita or any other literature related to Krishna, and if the insect is killed while folding the pages, then, that insect gets elevated to higher births and you will not add karma.
So, you must read only those books related to Krishna and His devotees and His creations with a spiritual mindset.

AVOID KARMA WHILE WORKING -(9):
When you drive car to do some material works and if a cat crosses your car and dies, you will add karma of kiling the cat though you did not kill that intentionally. But, when you drive car to distribute books of Krishna or purchase vegetables to cook for Krishna and a cat is killed by you, that cat is elevated and you will not add karma of killing it. So, you are not responsible for that, but, it is the will of Krishna and the cat will get the blessings of Krishna.
AVOID KARMA WHILE WORKING -(10):
Let me get biksha or donation from you. If I use it for material enjoyments, I add to karma of using your hard earned money for unproductive things. I will get next birth as poor with financial struggles. If I use it to serve Krishna and to manage my life to serve Krishna, both I and you get the blessings of Krishna because I involve all of you in the service of Krishna. So, both of us get the mercy of Krishna and advance in devotion fast.

Thus, I can give many examples. The above examples may seem to be genuine and unavoidable actions. But, even a breathing leads to karma because many microorganisms are killed while breathing. So, when you breath for Krishna, ie, when you live for Krishna, such karma will not affect you.
So, remember: Whatever you do, do for Krishna. You will avoid karma.
Whatever you speak, speak about Krishna. You will avoid karma.
Whatever you hear, hear about Krishna. You will avoid karma.
Whatever work you do, work for Krishna dedicating the results for Krishna. Then, You will avoid karma.
Thus, always work for Krishna. You can avoid karma. If you work for your satisfaction, then, you can never avoid karma in your every action.
Hare krishna.
