Never give up – Story

Never give up – Story

“Once a ship in the ocean sank.

Nobody survived except from one person, who somehow swam to the top of the Ocean.

He was in the middle of the ocean in the dark of the night with no one around and was swimming on the surface of the water to save him from dying.

He thought, ‘Let me swim for the whole night and when the sun will rise, I might be able to see a land or an island around and I will swim towards that and save myself’. With this hope he swam the whole night.

Next morning when the sun rise, he was filled with happiness with the brightness of the sun light but soon he was again morose as he could not see any land or island around in the vicinity of his vision.

He just swam in the ocean for the whole day, sometimes floating sometimes cycling and other times lying on his back to get some rest/sleep.

He survived by drinking the ocean water only.

He was always thinking of giving up because of fatigue and restlessness but somehow he motivated himself with some hope that somebody will come and save him.

With this hope he kept swimming for 7 days but he could not find a land to rest.

Last day, his body just gave up; he could not swim anymore because of tiredness and hunger.

He just prayed inside that somebody should come and save him otherwise he is going to sink and die.

Suddenly he finds a big block of wood appeared before him floating on the ocean bed.

He becomes filled with so much happiness that he collects back all his energy and swims towards the wooden block and climbs on top of it.

He thanks god for saving his life by sending that wooden block towards him.

He then starts pushing the water away with his hands while sitting on the wooden block and aims for one direction and finally reaches the land!”

Morals of the story:

(1) Never give up your Krishna consciousness, even though if you are in the middle of the ocean of Maya (miseries) and are surrounded by so many impediments.

(2) Have faith on Krishna and pray to him for your deliverance, he will definitely send you a Guru (Spiritual Master) to help you cross the Ocean of material life (like block of wood in the story).

(3) Srimad Bhagvatam describes: For a devotee, the ocean of material world, becomes as small as water contained in the Calf’s hoof print

(4) Bhagavat Gita 7.14 Krishna says: This divine energy of Mine, consisting of the three modes of material nature, is difficult to overcome. But those who have surrendered unto Me can easily cross beyond it.
