Krishna or Krishna’s Service as target – which one is the best for devotees?
A Girl devotee (Name hidden) asked like this:
“pure devotees r liberated souls they comes to this world to liberate conditional souls like us… So what is there state of mind when they leave their present body…as they r always situated with Krishna even in this world.. N there bhakti is 100% then Do they go back or takes birth again in this world?”
Krishna or Krishna’s Service as target – which one is right for a devotee? The reply can be understood as explained below.
Yes…Lord has said that those who leaves the body thinking of Him will come to Him. This assurance is for those who likes to go back to Him after leaving the body.

Most of the devotees are frustrated with the ups and downs of material life. So, they feel that they can remain ever blissful if they go back to Krishna’s kingdom.
So, they perform all the devotional practices with the target of going back to Godhead. When they Prema, they always think of Krishna in every living being and things and he also treats all the happenings in life as the wish of Krishna.
So, he has no lamentations or joys. He is always situated in Krishna Consciousness. So, when he leaves his body keeping his desire of Going back to Lord, he is taken to Krishna’s abode and he will have no further births in material planets.
However, some exalted devotees follow TRUE, SELFLESS BHAKTI.
What is that?

They have no desires or target for them and they have totally entrusted themselves to Krishna. They do NOT EVEN DEVELOP A DESIRE TO GO BACK TO GODHEAD. BECAUSE, THEY HAVE LEFT EVERYTHING TO THE CHOICE OF KRISHNA AND THEY JUST SERVE THE LORD ON EARTH.
They are prepared to take birth anywhere again if Krishna likes to utilize them to elevate fallen souls. Krishna does not come to material planets frequently and He sends such selfless exalted devotees to take birth among fallen souls to elevate more fallen souls to Krishna Bhakti.
It is said that a guru will have to be ready even to take many births to ensure that all his disciples get elevated to Krishna’s Kingdom.
For example, we can assume that acharyas like Srila Prabhupada must have lead an exalted devotee life in their previous birth. They would have been qualified to go back to Lord in his previous birth. However, as Krishna wanted to elevate many fallen souls even from highly materialistic parts of this planet, He gave rebirth to the acharyas like Srila Prabhupada and gave them power to save thousands of people from the birth and death. Because such acharyas like Srila Prabhupada came here to fulfill the wish of Krishna, they could elevate thousands of disciples effectively and JUST THEIR ASSOCIATION made many fallen souls as very good devotees.

So, such devotees like Srila prabhupada will not leave the bodies with the wish of going back to Krishna. They leave their bodies just as a HUMBLE SERVANT of Lord totally surrendering themselves to Krishna to be used by Krishna as He prefers.
So, Krishna use them as He prefers and if needed, He gives rebirth and at other times He keeps such exalted devotees with Him at Goloka. When such exalted devotees are at Goloka, Krishna feels the need to give a birth to them for helping some fallen souls. They too happily and immediately agree and come to the earth and serve Lord from here.
So, the point is that exalted/ pure devotees would JUST LIKE TO SERVE LORD FROM ANYWHERE, EITHER IN MATERIAL PLANETS OR IN SPIRITUAL PLANETS.
If you ask “Krishna or Krishna’s Service as target – which one is right?”, the reply is that Our target should be the Service to Krishna, Not Krishna!
