Reading Garuda Purana Mahabharatha & keeping Krishna Photos wrong?

Actual Questions from two devotees:

(1)

“Sir,  i like lord krishna very much …. i hang one krishna photo frame in my house.  But some body said that  its not right to hang these kind of photos in house…. now wt i m asking is, put krishna photo in house is right….or wrong. thanking you…”

(2)

“In most of your posts you talk about “Garuda Purana”.  I heard that this Purana is meant to be listened by only those who have lost their parents and usually after the final rites. I don’t think those who have parents must read it.”

SHOULD WE NOT KEEP THE PICTURES OF FLUTE KRISHNA IN HOME?

MYTH-1:

“If you keep the Picture of Krishna playing flute, the happiness of your family will drain like the air going through the flute.”

Ignore such advice.

His words are very offensive. This shows how ignorant that person is.

If you associate with intelligent devotees, they will guide you properly.

The people keep the pictures of actors in their home.  Keeping the picture of an actor is right but, keeping the picture of the Krishna is wrong for them.

This is the trend of kaliyuga. Many people have become very ignorant and hence they preach such superstitious things, but, they do not come towards pure devotion.

So, ignore the advice of that person.  Keep Krishna’s pictures in your home in the selected places that is seen by you frequently. This will help you to keep Krishna always in your thoughts.

Don’t stop with that.  Chant His holy Name daily, offer food to Krishna and offer worship to Krishna every day.

Do these things without fear.  You will become peaceful, and no negative vibrations will be there in your life.

Whatever happens to us in our life time, is because of our past karma from our previous birth(s), not because of keeping Krishna’s picture in house.

SHOULD GARUDA PURANA NOT BE READ AT HOME?

MYTH-2:

“Garuda Purana should be read only when there is a death in the house .  If we read now, any person’s death may happen in the house in future”.

No. It is not right. The people say so because if you read Garuda Purana when you have lost a relative, you can easily understand the concepts explained in it since this Purana speaks about our life after death.

Garuda Purana is the book of secrets of our life after we leave this body. It is said by Krishna Himself to Garuda Bhagavan.  This is the bonafide Purana that everyone should read.

In the last 10 years, I have read Garuda Purana atleast for 7-8 times.   But, no death happened in my family in those ten yeatrs.  So, neglect it if anyone advice you not to read Garuda Purana.  They are offending against the words of Krishna.

How reading the words of Krishna can be punishable?

Absolutely wrong.

In fact, if a person reads Garuda Purana, he will stop sinning and lead a pure life.  Such a wonderful scripture it is.

In normal days, you will have so many thoughts and problems.  But, during the distressed/ mourning days after a death in the house, your mind will readily understand and digest such concepts easily.

If you like to read it, you can read even now.  Nothing will happen.  Because, they are the words of Lord Krishna in His Narayana Form.  Telling that the words of Krishna should not be read on normal days is like disrespecting that Purana and Krishna Himself.

So,  Read it. I became a more responsible person after reading it.  That is its real benefit.

SHOULD WE NOT KEEP & READ MAHABHARATHA & BHAGAVAD GITA AT HOME?

MYTH-3:

“If we keep & read Mahabharatha and Bhagavad Gita in our home, there will be clashes among the relatives  in our family.”

This is also foolishness.  The people think so because Mahabharatha gives a detailed description about a great war of Kurukshetra inthousands of verses.  They think that reading about the war in detail will make the mind of the readers as fighting natured and hence he may involve in quarrels with others that may claim the peace in his life.

But the reality is that Mahabharatha is an ithikasa, that means “It happened” and it explains how the dharma was established by Krishna. The Ithikas were written at the same time while the incidents were happening.  So, Mahabharatha is the real story.  Since the ordinary people will find it difficult to understand the concepts of vedas,  Krishna Himself came as Vyasa dev, and  wrote Mahabharatha that explains vedic instructions mixed with the stories.  Bhagavad Gita is also a part of Mahabharatha.

Any story about Krishna is very auspicious.  So, Reading Garuda Purana Mahabharatha & keeping Krishna Photos will not create problems in your family.  The problems arise because of our karma.
