BHAGAVAD GITA – BENEFITS & MYTHS RELATED TO IT!

Bhagavad Gita is not just a book of ethics.  It is a complete guide to get liberated and go back to Krishna Himself. There are many myths about Bhagavad Gita. This Post is intended to clear the doubts of the devotees about BHAGAVAD GITA – BENEFITS & MYTHS RELATED TO IT.

BHAGAVAD GITA – BENEFITS & MYTHS – 1

IS BHAGAVAD GITA NOT SUITABLE TO TAKE AWAY OUR PAINS?

Krishna resides in the Topmost layer of the spiritual world called Goloka Vrindhavan of Vaikunta Lokas! His world is surrounded and illuminated by the Brightest light, even without the presence of a sun-like star! It is the light from his spiritual body! This is called “Brammam” or “Bramma Jyothi”.  Pitifully, Some people learn only about this Brammam/ Brahmma Jyothi! Krishna condemns them in Bhagavad Gita!

Many fruitive rituals given in Vedas & Upanishads (Part of vedas) offer re-birth, as they teach us: “If you do this ritual, you will get that.” However, those who learnt about “I”, “Me”, “Brammam” as taught by Vedas (neglecting Krishna), can go up to this Brahmma Jyothi and mix one and all with that that is called MUKTHI, but Krishna will be invisible to him!  They can not get the rarest opportunity to see and serve Krishna in person, after leaving this body!

Whereas, the devotees who followed Gita and surrendered to Krishna and left the body as Krishna devotee, will reach that Bramma Jyothi & beyond that they will find the Goloka Vrindhavan that will be visible only to the devotees and hence penetrate this Bramma Jyothi and reaches the Kingdom of Krishna, Goloka! He then eternally serves Krishna in whatever way they like, as a servant, as a mother, as a father, as a friend, as a disciple, or as a lover!

Thus, Bhagavad Gita relieves our pains permanently.

BHAGAVAD GITA – BENEFITS & MYTHS – 2

DOES BHAGAVAD GITA DIVIDE THE SOCIETY BASED ON CASTES?

Does Bhagavad Gita divide the society based on castes? Absolutely no! Krishna classified the society in 4 classes, Brahmana, Kshatria, Vaishya & Sudra because if every varna performs their assigned duties properly, there will be no chaos in this world! How?

Brahmana will advise the king, so, he will rule as per sastras! So, all 3 varnas will be happy! Kshatriyas should protect country & people!

If Kshatrias do that properly, all the other 3 varnas will live peacefully!

Vaishyas should do farming & trading properly, so, all the other 3 varnas will get food & milk!

Sudras should work and assist all the above 3 varnas, so, all the assignments of the 3 varnas are implemented without break!

This is the plan of Krishna! All 4 varnas should co-operate with each other, so that the world order is maintained!

What happens now? Everyone of us like to be a Professional/ owner, whether we like it or not! In western countries, as most of the people had become the owners, there are shortage of people to work! Therefore, they import manpower from developing countries! Even in India, as most of the people (vaishyas) quit farming & go to cities for working as sudras, shortage of manpower for farming!

Children of farmers do not prefer farming as profession! They go to cities & work as professionals! farm lands are converted as buildings & factories! If this trend continues, there will soon be a shortage of farmers & farmland that leads to shortage of grains & vegetables! This may lead to chaos in society, as smuggling, theft, insecurity will increase!

THEREFORE, KRISHNA’s CLASSIFICATION OF SOCIETY IS ALWAYS CORRECT!

IS BHAGAVAD GITA NOT HELPFUL FOR DAILY LIFE?

Please do not believe such MYTHS RELATED TO BHAGAVAD GITA. Others say, “Bhagavad Gita is not applicable for our material life!”. This is absolutely wrong! Krishna explains how to live on earth, what to eat, how to sleep, how to die, and how to go back to Godhead! Thus, Gita is the complete guide for our blissful MATERIAL LIFE AND BEYOND THAT AFTER DEATH.

O.K, What is the use of Bhagavad Gita?

How can we use Bhagavad Gita in our day to day life?

How can it be useful in improving our life?

Will it increase your profit in your business?

Will it give you good wife or good husband?

Will it give you status?

If these are your questions, my reply will be: “Yes!”.

(Why Arjuna blames only women, not men in Bhagavad Gita 1.40? READ HERE!)

Don’t get agitated! Why I tell that? Actually, Krishna has not preached the Bhagavad Gita to give you money, wife, husband, status, etc! He has given it to purify you to connect with Him through 4 yogas!

But, how I told you that Bhagavad Gita will give you money, good wife/husband, status, etc ? Let us see how it is:

(i) If you are bound by maya (or, material attachments),, what you will do? You will do your business with a blind attachment of results! So, you won’t bother about ethics & hence face problems in your business/ career and, you may become indebted with lakhs of rupees/ dollars!

But, if you follow Bhagavad Gita, you will do your business with a BALANCED mind that helps you act with care & responsibility! So, you will get more profit & no debts! Thus, Bhagavad Gita gives money!

(Why and How Ganapati wrote Mahabharatha and Bhagavad Gita? READ HERE!)

(ii) If you are under maya (or, material attachments), you will find any boy or girl beautiful! So, you will not consider his/ her character & background when you fix him/ her for marriage! So, your life maywill be miserable and like a jail!

If  you follow Bhagavad Gita, you will analyse a boy/ girl with a BALANCED mind! You will not be attracted by his/ her beautiful body and mannerisms alone! You will see deeper inside his/ her heart! You will analyse his/ her background! You will review whether this girl/ boy will be suitable for assisting in devotional way of life, or, not! Therefore,  you will get a good and pious wife/ husband!  Thus, Bhagavad Gita gives a Good wife/ husband!

(iii) If you are under maya (or, material attachments), you will gain temporary fame by associating with a wrong person, eg: with a wrong person in politics or business and get fame for some time! If police finds the frauds one day, you will be under threat! Whereas, if you follow Bhagavad Gita, you will associate only with a devotee or good charactered persons which is risk-free and you will get an eternal fame as a true devotee of Krishna! So, Bhagavad Gita gives eternal fame!

Now, do you understand that Bhagavad Gita helps in your material life too?  This is the way of understanding Bhagavad Gita! We can apply Bhagavad Gita Both to Go back to Krishna as well as in our day to day life! This will help us to ride the life boat safely & to direct that boat towards Krishna’s planet without any accidents in between! You will read well simplified purports for Bhagavad Gita so that a person can understand Bhagavad Gita easily & follow it in his/ her life!

BHAGAVAD GITA – BENEFITS & MYTHS – 4

DOES BHAGAVAD GITA RECOMMENDS SANYASA IN FORESTS AS THE WAY OF LIFE?

Bhagavad Gita is not a Scripture for retired people!  Some Persons in our family say,  if we read Bhagavad Gita in young age, we will become a sanyasi and hence we will not enter into marriage life, etc, and go out of the house! Therefore, they do not allow their children to read Bhagavad Gita!

This is totally baseless! Bhagavad Gita is to be taught from the age of sixteen itself!

Why? Teen is the period of oscillation and setting the character of a person! If a person associates with a thief in his teens, he will definitely become a thief one day! If a teen associates with a highly materialistic person, he also will become a materialistic person! If a teen  associates with a girl/ boy with the unhealthy character in sense gratifications, he/ she also may dare to involve in uncontrolled sense gratifications!

IF A TEEN ASSOCIATES WITH BHAGAVAD GITA, HE/ SHE WILL BECOME A PERSON LIKE ARJUNA! Because, Arjuna was the loveable friend of Krishna! Karna, a good person, associated with Duryodhana & died with him! Whereas, Arjuna associated with Krishna, not Duryodhana, and Got the opportunity to hear Bhagavad Gita from Him! Thus, association makes one good or bad in character!

BHAGAVAD GITA – BENEFITS & MYTHS – 5

Why Bhagavad Gita has to be taught even for teens?

You should note that Arjuna was not an old person to hear Gita! Krishna taught Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna who is so young!  After hearing Gita, did Arjuna skipped his wife and children to go to the forest? These are the myths spread by some people who are misunderstanding the greatness of Gita! Therefore, I tell you that Bhagavad Gita is for all ages above 15!

If a person reads & understands Bhagavad Gita in his/ her teen age, there is no doubt that he/she will lead a responsible, meaningful and peaeful life till the end and  will be happier than others!

He will use his profit from businesss/ job responsibly!

He/ she will love his wife/ husband as a form of Krishna!

He will never go to forest or mountain! Gita is not for that!

He/ she will happily leave this world as he/ she will enter Krishna’s Kingdom!

BHAGAVAD GITA – BENEFITS & MYTHS – 6

DOES BHAGAVAD GITA SUPPORT QUITTING MARRIAGE?

Krishna has never said not to marry a girl/ boy in Gita! He speaks about sanyasa, but not by skipping the people and things!

In Krishna’s words, ‘sanyasa’ means, NOT SKIPPING THE OPPOSITE SEX! It is SKIPPING THE ATTACHMENT WITH EVERY MATERIAL THING!

How? Live with husband/ wife, but don’t think that it is eternal! At any stage ,any one  has to leave this body first and separate! No eternal material relations!

By sanyasa, Krishna means detachment of mind, not the detachment of the person himself! If a person is fond of the sense enjoyment throughout his/ her life, when he/ she has to leave this world, he/ she will find it difficult! So, throughout Bhagavad Gita, Krishna speaks only about the consciousness, not the bodily relations! Therefore, sanyasa does not mean, going to forest by leaving the family!

But, Sanyasa can be followed, living with family but not developing excessive attachments in the family! After creating the number of males & females equally in this world, how Krishna will advise us to skip them?

HOWEVER, YOU SHOULD NOT EXPECT THAT ALL FAMILIES WILL NECESSARILY BE HAPPIER! BOTH BEING A BRAHMMACHARI & A FAMILY PERSON HAVE THEIR OWN MERITS & DEMERITS! NO SYSTEM OF LIFE IS PROBLEM FREE!

(Will Bhagavad Gita bewilder and frustrate you? READ HERE!)

Maintaining the wife/husband & children & safeguarding them are difficult in the Grahastha Ashram (Family life)! But, they have the arrangement to control their sexual disturbances! Whereas, in brahmacharya/ sanyasa Ashrams, there is no pains of family maintenance, but it will be very difficult to control/ forget the family, hunger, inducements of sexual organs, etc,  throughout his life! No facility to get rid of them!

Some persons feel that if we come to Spiritual service, we must necessarily be a brahmachari or sanyasi! Not so! That depends on our body nature & consciousness level! Some others, remain a brahmachari or sanyasi just because of the fear of the family burden! After skipping the burdened family life, some persons review later due to lack of sense control! Or, they go for illicit activities!

Therefore, no need for confusion! Decide as per your nature! Not as others say! This is my kind advice to all youth who are following spirituality! If you are unable to fully divert your mind in Bakthi due to sexual inducements, enter into family as Grahastha Ashram! It is not a crime!  A brahmachari or sanyasi must ensure himself that he can be pure both physically & mentally! Otherwise, he should not take sanyasa!

Remember, most of  the characters including Arjuna in Mahabharatha are grahasthas!  Only such grahasthas need Bhagavad Gita!

Therefore, Bhagavad Gita is not against family life!  It bothers about consciousness!

BHAGAVAD GITA – BENEFITS & MYTHS – 7

SHOULD BHAGAVAD GITA NOT TO BE READ AT HOME?

This is totally baseless. Some people promote this myth because if we read the Bhagavad Gita, our home will also become like Kurukshetra with misunderstandings, fights, etc.   The effect is the reverse. if we read Bhagavad Gita, we will remain steady in all favourable and unfavourable situations. Because, Bhagavad Gita will be very helpful for life management and career management also because it speaks about how to remain steady in ups and downs, positives and negatives of our life.

So, Bhagavad Gita Must be kept and read at home.

CONCLUSION:

Thus, Bhagavad Gita makes our life full of bliss!  We can follow devotion to Krishna with the same set up we have now – either as a brahmachari, sanyasi, family person, businessman, student, employee, etc.
