If Demigods can’t clear our karma, do they just postpone karma?
A male devotee (Name hidden) asked like this:
“Hare Krishna, I have read a plethora of your posts where it is rightfully said that all the events and incidents of our life are merely due to our karma in our previous births done. Great Spiritual Master like ………………. has said that we don’t get what we desire but what we deserve by the mercy of God. Then what is the purpose of prayer? Surely, must have I done a myriad of bad deeds in my previous lifetimes since I have gone through a deeply pyschological turmoil such as living in a monotonous and oppressive life within my household where my desires are repressed amidst many others.
Furthermore, I’m aware of the fact that Krishna reduces the severity of our Karma if we pray to him with unflinching devotion and surrenders unto him whole heardtedly with conviction whereby he shall take care of our necessities provided in an appropriate measure by the Lord with a view to let our devotion go smoothly. However ,I have also seen some people’s karma not being diminished or reduced to a certain degree but changed utterly when conducting a prayer told by a Guru in my country to them and things have changed for the better for these people.
However, the influx amount of people pray to Maa Durga, Hanumanji and Shivji on a larger scale and prayers regarding Sri Krishna are less upheld in my town. However, it makes my mind linking back to yet another thought that the fact that their life has been transformed marvelously by the Guru’s prayer and prayer done by them simultaneously at home, primarily doing ‘Abhishekgum’ on Shivling for a certain amount of days.
Does it mean that their karma has been postponed for yet another birth or later during that very same birth would they have to go through the reactions or has it been removed entirely through the mercy of the Guru. Or Has Krishna deliberately induce their mind to worship a particular deity so that they end up believing that due to the powerful vibration of prayer has it changed their life for the better or was it already meant to be that way either through prayer or without prayer nevertheless? Enlighten me, Prabhuji. Hare Krishna.”
REPLY:
Yes, your understanding is correct.
We are athma. Krishna is the Paramatma.
All of us know this very basic fact well.
Krishna knows all the recordings of the reactions of our karma of all our previous births.
(Are Demigods subject to attachments and bad times? READ HERE!)
Krishna says this to Arjuna in Bhagavad Gita Ch-4, Verse-5:
“Many, many births both you and I have passed. I can remember all of them, but you cannot, O subdoer of the enemy!”
So what?
Krishna only knows the recordings of our karma.
So, whenever we pray for something from Krishna, He reviews our previous karma and offers only the boon that will not affect our devotional standing.
Krishna never gives the boons that binds us with this material world.
Krishna allows us to face the reactions of our previous karma, but, He makes the reactions bearable to us.
That is why, the boons given by Krishna do not give rebirth.
Krishna gives only elevating boons.
In many cases, Krishna develops more spiritual interest in the minds of devotees. Why? The devotees will find those spiritual practices more engaging and elevating than any other activities.

What about demigods? Will getting relief from demigods postpone our karma to the next birth? Can’t the demigods CLEAR our karma?
When they themselves are subject to the reactions of their actions, how can they clear the karma of their devotees?
Demigods cannot review the recordings of the reactions of your previous karma. So, if they are convinced with your prayers, they offer boons to you.
For example, the demigods may give a boon of getting a child though some of their devotees are not destined to get a child in this birth because of their serious violations in the case of children in their previous births.
Those devotees will clear this part of their karma by being childless in this birth. So, they will get child in their next birth though they don’t get a child in this birth.
If the demigods bless those devotees to get children in this birth in spite of their karma of facing childlessness in this birth, they will get a child in this birth because karma network will temporarily allow them to get children in this birth.
So, the karma network will keep their karma of childlessness alive and pending to be faced in the next birth.
(Why the demigods help faster than Krishna to their devotees? READ HERE!)
So, the boons given by the demigods are temporary, not permanent.
Karma network will always try to impose the reactions of everyone’s karma.
If you escape in this birth, it won’t be deleted. It will be added in the next birth’s Prarapth karma.
So, your karma clearing process will get further delayed.
That is why Krishna acts in a different way as explained above by allowing the devotees to face their pending karma in ereduced magnitude.
Even mant popular acharyas have faced failed in their married lives in their poorva ashramas. But, Krishna allows them to face the karma of family separation and He rewards them by giving good elevation in His services.
The boons of demigods give rebirth if they give in violation of the karma of their devotees. Whereas, the devotees of Krishna clear their karma faster and get Krishna earlier.
Hope are now clear if Demigods can’t clear our karma, whether they just postpone karma.
