FIVE DEBTS & FIVE YAJNAS TO BE CLEARED & PERFORMED BY EVERYONE!
This is a very very important knowledge everyone should know and follow.
When we come to this world, we come with five debts acquired from many births! Unless we clear these debts, we will have repeated births and deaths!
It is recommended by the scriptures that we should not remain indebted to anyone in this world and if we leave this world with debts, we can not get liberated and we will be sent back here to clear those debts.
So, we should clear the following five debts before leaving this world:
FIVE DEBTS EVERYONE HAS TO CLEAR
(1) DEBT TO RISHIS & VEDIC SCRIPTURES:
When we came to this world, we did not know any knowledge of how to lead a recommended way of life to realize the Supreme God and Brahmam. The vedic scriptures taught us everything. There are many people who taught us about the scriptures, Brahmam, Supreme person Krishna, etc. We are indebted to those teachers and scriptures and we should clear this debt to avoid rebirth and to get liberated.
(2) DEBT TO PITRUS (PARENTS & ANCESTORS):
Only our parents made all the facilities for us to learn everything and lead a life of dignity. And, their two previous two generations are also connected to us through linkage. So, we are indebted to our parents and ancestors also.
(3) DEBT TO CELESTIALS & GOD:
We breathe because of Vayudeva who gives air. We get water and hence grains because of Varuna deva who gives rain. We grow plants because Bhoomi devi allows that. We are also indebted to the Supreme Person Krishna also because he has made all these arrangements to manage everything through the devas. So, we are indebted to these devas and God.
(4) DEBT TO OTHER LIVING BEINGS:
Are you aware that many living beings are helping us in our life? We get milk from cows. We use the bulls for agriculture. We use microorganisms to ferment the milk into curd. We get honey through honey bees. We use flowers, plants, etc for our living. Thus, we are indebted to many living beings.
(5) DEBT TO OTHER HUMAN BEINGS:
Do you remember how many people have helped you in your life so far? Someone who gave money when you were in shortage. Someone who encouraged you when you were in distress. Someone who gave some food and water when you were in need of food and water. Not just this birth, many people would have helped in many births. So, we are in a need to clear the debts accrued by us to other people.
Thus, we should clear these five debts in this birth to get liberated. One can not get liberated from material bondage when he has debts pending in this world.
HOW TO CLEAR THESE DEBTS?
We must perform FIVE types of YAJNAS (Sacrifices) to clear these five debts.
What are they?
FIVE YAJNAS ONE SHOULD DO TO BE FREE FROM ABOVE DEBTS!
(1) BRAHMA YAJNA (OR) GNANA YAJNA:
You learnt about Brahmam and Supreme Person Krishna from someone or many. Unless they teach you, you will still be leading a life of sins. Those scriptures, gurus and teachers (preachers) are making you qualified to get liberated.
So, we should help these sources of knowledge back by any means. Eg: You can learn and spread these great knowledge about Brahmam and supreme Personality of Godhead Krishna. If you are busy or not able to spread them, you can help those who are spreading these knowledge of scriptures through encouragement, resources, etc. By doing so, you are also taking part in spreading the knowledge of scriptures to many people.
This is called BRAHMA YAJNA or GNANA YAGNA.
(Note: As far as thousands of devotees who are learning about Krishna and scriptures through this site are concerned, they too are indebted to this site. So, they can HELP THIS SITE AND BECOME A PART OF THIS PREACHING SERVICE. Thus, you can clear the debts to this site that is also a source of knowledge for you.)
(Why should we read the scriptures Is chanting alone not sufficient? READ HERE!)
(2) PITRU YAJNA:
Just by taking care of your parents and performing rituals for the deceased parents and grand parents, we can clear the debts for our Pitrus (ancestors).
(Should we perform rituals for ancestors? READ HERE!)
(3) DEVA YAJNA:
By performing the recommended rituals targeting the celestials including our family god and the supreme Personality of Godhead, we can clear the debts for devas and god.
In this kaliyuga, Chanting the holy names of Krishna is the recommended yajna. So, if we chant the holy names of Krishna, we can satisfy all the celestials also. At the same time, as a token of gratitude and recognition of the works of the celestials, it is good to respect and honour all the celestials and demigods. That is why, I always advise not to stop with honouring Krishna alone and give due honours to Krishna’s employees (celestials and demigods) also. If we disrespect any celestial/ demigod, our liberation is not possible. SO, THOUGH YOU DO NOT WORSHIP ANY DEVA, PLEASE DO NOT DISRESPECT ANYONE.
(Should a Krishna devotee worship Kuladevatha (Family God) also? READ HERE!)
(4) BHUTHA YAJNA:
This is to clear the debt for other living beings. This can be cleared by offering food to crows, dogs, etc. This is the reason for the recommendation of the scriptures to offer food to crows.
In Indian houses, the women draw rangolis using the flour of grains outside their homes. These flour particles are eaten by ants. This is also to clear the debts for other living beings.
Offer some fruits and food to cows in the temples. Grow some plants in home that can be eaten by other insects. Plant some trees on roadsides that can be used to give shadow to the people and animals.
If possible, Keep a bucket of water outside your home that will be drunk by the thirsty animals. Pour water to the plants.
These are just a few examples for clearing our debts to the other living beings such as animals and birds.
(5) NRI (NARA) YAJNA (FOR HUMANS):
Nri or Nara means humans. Narasimha means HUMAN +LION form. Thus, Nara yajna is to clear our debts to other human beings.
Help anyone who seek your help. Be kind to all. Respect and offer feast to the guests to your family. Spare a small part of your income for charity of helping others.
Thus, you can clear the debts accrued from others.
So, never hate even materialistic people! Just avoid close association with them.
(Do you hate the materialistic people after coming to devotion? Wrong. READ HERE!)
CONCLUSION:
I hope that this very important article has enlightened you about our Five debts and Five Yajnas to clear those debts.
Unless we do not lead a life in such a way that we repay the God, Teachers, Parents, Living beings and Humans, we can not get liberated.
Do not think that I am exaggerating. I never exaggerate the reality. Truth is always bitter.
Krishna Himself says what I said above.
For example, in Bhagavad Gita (4-31), Krishna says:
“If a person does not perform these yajnas, he can not be happy even in this world. Then, what about his status in other worlds?”
Why Krishna says so?
You may argue with me that just by surrendering to Krishna, we can get rid of all these duties.
This is utter wrong understanding of the facts. When we surrender to Krishna, we should show that surrender in our actions also and see Krishna in everyone and everything and do our duties to them as explained in this article.
Surrender should reflect in actions also. Otherwise, it is just pretending or misunderstanding.
Do you think that Krishna will accept a devotee who is selfish even not to be graceful and help his gurus, teachers, parents, other living beings?
How can a selfish devotee who hesitates to help the fellow human beings, parents, teachers, etc., but want ONLY KRISHNA, get liberated and enter into Goloka?
So, surrender to Krishna and at the same time, be graceful and repay your debts to these five sources who are the cause for your living here.
I will tell you 1000 times whether you can digest or not: WE CAN NOT ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF KRISHNA WITH PENDING KARMA!
(What to do to enter into the Kingdom of Krishna? READ HERE and also HERE!)
WHICH IS THE TOPMOST YAJNA OUT OF FIVE?
Krishna clearly says in Bhagavad Gita (4-33):
“Sacrifice through knowledge is superior to the sacrifice of material things”
This is what our site is doing.
