How to conquer the powers of maya that influence us to do sins?

A Girl devotee (Name hidden) asked like this:

“Hare Krishna, prabhuji, it is very difficult for me to conquer maya that is constantly influencing me to commit sins. How to deal with this influencing powers of maya?”

REPLY:

Something can influence us only if we are weak.

Maya is influencing us because we only are allowing her to influence us.

These influencing powers of maya are the outcome of karma as well as freewill.

Most importantly, We get influenced by maya only if we are weak in sadhanas and devotion to Krishna.

In the human life, the real influencing power is our Karma that has close tie up with maya.

Karma pushes us to commit sins or to do good deeds. Sometimes, our freewill also makes us to do something.

However, maya and karma are not the ultimate powers to influence us.

If we get influenced by Krishna Bhakti, the influence of maya will not act on us.

So, the ONLY ultimate power that can relieve us from maya and karma is Lord Krishna.

The Influencing powers are used by maya to bind us more in this material planet. Maya is doing her duty. That’s all. We only should be wise to escape from maya by catching Krishna.

Maya influences us to involve in karma if we have excessive material attachments. Maya needs some people to involve us in karma. So, maya uses our friends and relatives or even unknown strangers and animals in implementing her plans.

Only because we have attachments with these material relations, we are influenced to help them or deceive them – both leads to good and bad karma.

If we are attached to this material life and if we expect something from others, we face disappointments if we don’t get it and hence we commit mistakes and offenses that add to karma.

If you are materially attached and are working expecting some results, you can’t avoid committing mistakes and offenses and hence adding karma.

Maya will apply its influence to push you to commit offences and involve us deeply in sense gratification activities resulting in karma again and again.

Unless we are strong in Krishna Consciousness, we will helplessly involve in karma again and again.

That is why, though some persons do not like to marry, they are influenced into marrying someone due to pressing circumstances.

(If divorce is fixed by karma, what is the use of seeing horoscopes? READ HERE!)

And, though some persons like to marry, he/ she does not get anyone to marry.

Thus, we are under the influence of karma.

What to do to avoid this influence?

There is our Lord who can protect us from these influencing powers of maya that act thru karma. So surrender to Him to get rid of this influencing or convincing power, ie, karma.

If you are convinced that the Lord can relieve you from the clutches of maya and hence from karma, you should surrender to the Lord and keep the influencing power of maya away from u.

When you surrender to the Lord, you will work for the satisfaction of the Lord. So, your actions will not add karma to u.

So, surrender to the Lord. Work for the Lord. Worship the Lord. Chant His Names. Develop material detachment.

Thus, Conquer the powers of maya that influence us to do sins by living for Krishna.
