What to do with the Tulasi plants grown excessively in my house?

A male devotee (Name hidden) asked like this:

Hare Krishna Prabhuji ,  I am ……….., from ……….. (Please hide my Identity Prabhuji). I am currently pursuing ………………………………….. I have 3 questions regarding Krishna Consciousness lifestyle and practices. I was introduced to Krishna consciousness 4 years back . But , I was just a beginner in KC. I was not in the satsangha of devotees till last year. But recently , from 8 months onwards , myself and my parents have been visiting ISKCON Temple twice a month. Now though I am not chanting regularly , 2 days once I am chanting one round . And also , I am improving Prabhuji. Now I have 3 questions Prabhuji :

Question 1 :

Even Before coming to KC, my family was maintaining tulasi plants . But now I started to maintain more tulasi plants due to seeds turning into samplings when they fall down . Now we have 7-8 tulasi plants in grow bags, actually prabhuji,We started with one plant , but now 7-8 plants came due to the fall of seeds from tulasi plants. Also prabhiji , sunlight is there for 90 mins daily for tulasi plant . Now my question is prabhuji, green leaves are falling suddenly , especially after the rain. And also prabhuji , there are lots of pests coming to tulasi plants , what to do prabhuji ? Also, so many small saplings of tulasi plants are growing , what can we do prabhuji ? Can we donate those saplings to temples ? Also I am worried about how to take care of tulasi plants when I go to internships or jobs , like that . I have attached images for your reference prabhuji.

Question 2 :

ADMIN’s NOTE: Send this question after 45 days as it is a different and unrelated topic here. Always send only one topic in a question. Don’t club many questions.

I will reply this second question separately if you send it again after 45 days because I have to reply to many devotees in queue and it is a separate topic not related to other two questions.

Question 3 :

Now that we are attending Sunday satsangha programs twice a month , one devotee said us to attend bhagavatam classes in the morning ? But prabhuji , as a beginner can I attend bhagavatam classes ?

QUESTION-1:

How fortunate your family is! Plenty of Tulasi plants are growing in your home!

Why should you destroy those tulasi plants?

Tulasi is a divine herb. Its presence itself is auspicious.

And, I have no other plants or trees in my house. Only Tulasi plants everywhere.

About 10-12 Tulasi plants are there. A few plants have grown to my height. Ha Ha.

(Types of Tulasi Plant and Should its growth be controlled? READ HERE!)

The tulasi plants will be dying one side and new plants will also be growing simultaneously.

So, they themselves maintain their population.

Let them be as they are. Don’t disturb them.

Just water them limitedly but regularly. Don’t supply plenty of water for Tulasi plants.

Though you water on alternative days, they will get satisfied.

You have written that the leaves are falling down everywhere.

It is natural. Don’t fear whether it will be offensive if you happen to put your feet on the leaves.

Such things are unavoidable in the gardens. Try to clean the area where tulasi is growing once a day or in two days.

Even while cleaning, if your feet touches the leaves, don’t feel guilt. Unintentional and unavoidable offenses are always forgiven.

YOU CAN LEARN GROWING TULASI FROM THE BELOW POST:

(HOW TO GROW, MAINTAIN AND PLUCK THE TULASI PLANT? READ HERE!)

Try your best to keep the area clean. Enough.

You have also written that pests are coming.

Just spray Neem oil on the tulasi plants and at the roots once a fortnight. It will protect the tulasi plant from pests.

Or, Visit our site’s STORE , Click our TULASI LINK given there! It will take you to the Amazon Tulasi Pesticide page, and Order by reviewing the products given there.

So, don’t worry about the pests. They can be controlled.

Just think of the bigger benefit of growing Tulasi plants:

(i) Where there are tulasi plants, there will be Krishna;

(ii) Your family will get abundant oxygen as Tulasi plants release more oxygen.

(iii) Snakes will hesitate to enter into the house where tulasi plants are existing abundantly.

So, feel happy that you are surrounded by more tulasi plants.

There are devotees in cold countries who are struggling to grow tulasi plant. They install separate heated homes for those plants. Expensive cultivation.

Why do they grow with that much difficulty?

Because, Tulasi invites Krishna to the place where she lives.

(Is using Tulasi based cosmetics INNOCENTLY also an offense READ HERE!)

So, never think of killing or replacing the tulasi plants.

If you go for studies, request your parents or a maid to water her regularly.

If anyone asks with devotion, you can gift one or two plants. But never give to anyone just because you find it difficult to grow.

I too am ready to accept more and more whoever gives to me, but you can’t send from your place thru courier. The plant will die by the time it reaches me.

I have once purchased some tulasi plants from nursery 15 kms away from home by paying Rs.40 per pot when some plants died when some renovation works were done in my old rented house.

Everyday, I wake up and open the house gate seeing tulasi plants as the first sight in the morning.

It makes my whole day auspicious.

If the Tulasi plants have grown excessively in your house, it is nothing but fortune. Grow her; Maintain her with love and devotion. She will grow happily and bless you giving Krishna to you.

What else we want in our life?

QUESTION-3:

Not necessary. Since you are now studying, attending the Sunday programs and festivals alone is sufficient.

Usually Bhagavatham class is given by 8Am to 9AM.

It is the time for going to the institution.

So, if the ISKCON temple/ center is near your home, you can attend on weekends. If not, you can hear thru online during the holidays.

I have already written about balancing devotion while studying.

One such post is here:

(Improving in devotion but weakening in studies. What to do? READ HERE!)

While studying, follow chanting of atleast 4 rounds daily, reading the slokas of Bhagavad Gita, honouring prasadam, worshiping Krishna at home, etc.

After getting a job, you can think of Bhagavatam, Initiation, etc.

This is the age to study and equip yourself to take care of your needs throughout your life.

So, attending Bhagavatam Class daily is not compulsory while studying.

Hope you are clear about what to do with the Tulasi plants grown excessively in our house.
