How Bhagavad Gita & Scriptures were preserved in other yugas?
A male devotee has asked:
“Prabhu Ji, I have a question. Sri Krisha first spoke the Bhagvad Gita to Surya (sun) and then, many years later, to Arjuna. I understand that Bhagvad Gita As It Is is translated by His divine grace Swami Prapupad. I would like to know who and how the original was documented.Jai sri Krishna.”
REPLY:
We should not understand the scriptures using our defective senses in this kaliyuga.
Our Memory greatly depends on the level of contamination we have. More contamination – less memory as explained in the recent post below:
(Why People’s Memory and Lifetime are coming down in kaliyuga? READ HERE!)
In kaliyuga, the memory of the people is very week, because,
(i) Their life span is short;
(ii) they have so many attractions and diversions that shortens their memory.
(iii) Food pattern is not healthy and organic as used in other yugas.
(iv) The people in kaliyuga depends more on reminding and calculating instruments than their own memory. So, original growth of brain is missing in kaliyuga.
(BACKGROUND OF KURUKSHETRA WAR & BHAGAVAD GITA! READ HERE!)
Whereas, in Satya Yuga, memory of the people was very sharp and the people had no diversions, supporting instruments, etc..
In satya yuga, the people lived up to one lakh years. So, if they hear a sloka once, they will never forget it.
In Treta yuga also the memory had been affected to some extent only, not much.
So, In Satya Yuga and Treta Yuga, the Bhagavad Gita was remembered in memory without any omissions and additions.
A guru would teach all the slokas to the disciples.
All the disciples will teach those slokas to other people. Thus, Gita had been known to all just by shravan (hearing).
There was no point of mistakes, because, their memory was strong and they did not have cheating propensity.
This is how Bhagavad Gita & Scriptures were preserved in other yugas through Guru disciple lineage (Parampara) through “shravan – kirthan” process. Even now, hearing from a bonafide guru is recommended for full benefits.
(Doubt whether Bhagavad Gita was spoken by man or God? READ HERE!)
In dvapar yuga, the level of memory came down by about 50%. That is why, when Krishna came in Dvapar yuga, He came as Sri Vyasa dev also who documented all the scriptures in the palm leaves and safely preserved for future generations who will have short life and memory.
He was aware that the memory of the people will be short in the forthcoming kaliyuga.
How merciful Krishna is! Because, Vyasa dev was the literary avatar of Krishna Himself.
So, we can take that Krishna Himself documented all the scriptures for the benefit of the people in kaliyuga!
So, almost all the scriptures we have now would have been documented 5000+ years ago by Vyasa deva, Valmiki, etc..
Earlier, the scriptures including Bhagavad Gita, Vedas and all other scriptures were spread mouth to mouth thru Guru-disciple system.
Hope you are clear now about how Bhagavad Gita & Scriptures were preserved in other yugas?
