Is Brahma Vaivartha Purana authentic as it shows Krishna as lusty?

A devotee (Name hidden) asked like this:

“Prabhuji i have one question, many atheists or people against Hinduism target lord Krishna and they give the reference of Brahma vaivart purana.

I saw a man posting shlokas from Brahma vaivart purana which were explicit and arguing that how Lord Krishna is lustful he posted many stories from Brahma vaivart purana of different leelas of lord Krishna.

So is Brahma vaivart purana really an authentic puran and why does it contain such explicit content? (I hope you understand the exact point of my question)

Sorry for any offence. Hare Krishna”

REPLY:

See, I have already said that the Puranas available now are the most edited versions and most mis translated versions from the original content and meaning.

(Why some Puranas explain Kama elaborately through stories? READ HERE!?)

Particularly, Brahma Vaivartha Purana is the most misunderstood purana.

Yes, Brahma Vaivartha Purana is the one among the 18 Puranas written by Sri Vyasa deva.

But, every translation gives different slokas or meanings.

They are not unique even in the number of verses of Brahma Vaivartha Purana. Some translations say it is 18,000, but some other versions say more than that.

For example, One version gives the title of the first chapter as “Disturbance in sexual…..”

Another version gives the title of the first chapter as “Conversation between Narada and Narayana”

Same verse has been translated with different meanings in different publications.

Fake Stories on Radharani & Krishna that have to be avoided! READ HERE!

For example, In One version of translation, Radharani scolds Krishna as womanizer and He is behaving like a human and hence he should leave the Goloka and take birth on earth. In that translation, Radharani calls Krishna as Rogue, fool, Servant of a Rake, etc.

Same verse is translated by another translator as if Krishna is the Lord of steam, Lord of universe and he should leave that place soon.
A devotee will understand that Krishna is beyond three gunas (modes). So, he will translate or read Brahma Vaivartha Purana with that mindset and conviction.

But, none of the translations and versions of Brahma Vaivartha Purana we have now are written by a pure devotee. All are manipulated by the commercial authors and selfish brahmanas to please moghul kings, Kings of other beliefs and atheist kings.

That is why these unqualified non devotee translators translate the verses as if Krishna had s…x with Radharani for pleasure. They simply forget that Radharani and Krishna are one in two bodies and Radharani is the energy of Krishna.

These unqualified translators say that Gopis requested Krishna to have s…x with them and Krishna had it. Actually, the Gopis requested Krishna to become their husband and accept them so that their desires get fulfilled as they prayed to Kartyayini devi after waiting thousands of years.

And, such puranas should be translated by the pure devotees of Krishna. Then only we can get the actual meaning of the verses.

So, my point is, Yes, Krishna made lilas with Radharani and Gopis. But, all those lilas happened in the spiritual platform as interaction between the athmas and Paramathma. The ultimate desire of an athma is to get connected to the Paramathma.

During this process of union or interaction, the athma, ie, gopis feel the bliss that can’t be explained using any language. It is a stage every devotee can attain if they develop Prema for Krishna. Gopis got their prema fulfilled when Krishna performed lilas with them.

Srimad Bhagavatham is not that much manipulated or edited like Brahma Vaivartha Purana. Since Brahma Vaivartha Purana is mostly about the lilas of Krishna, there are this much of misinterpretations and mis translations.

So, the take home message is:

“Yes, Krishna and radharani and Gopis performed personal lilas as a result of thousands of years of their penances. Radharani is non different from Krishna. And, all the lilas were in spiritual platform as athma interacting with the Paramathma. These lilas should not be openly discussed as we do not have any qualifications to understand them. So, let us not rely on the current versions of Brahma Vaivartha Purana and Let us trust the contents of the last Purana of Sri Vyasadeva, Srimad Bhagavatham.”

Hope you are clear.
