Is a man becoming God possible?
Man Becoming God? Let us discuss about becoming Brahma, Vishnu & Shiva.
Let me first give the conclusion now itself: Man can become a Brahma, but he can’t become Lord Vishnu or Lord Shiva or Krishna.
Let us know why:
Mayavada philosophy spreads a wrong perception that all are god and man too can become god because Paramathma spreads everywhere as athma. So, both must be the same.
But, Rays come from the Sun, but they can’t equal the Sun because Rays have the qualities of Sun, but in very less magnitude.
One can bear the heat of Sunrays, but he will burnt even without ashes if he goes near the Sun.
So, though they have the Sun as their source, they can’t equal the Sun.
Lord Shiva has a unique and significant position. In fact Lord Shiva is the most powerful, second only to Krishna.
Shiva is an expansion of Krishna.
Krishna has 64 qualities.
Lord Brahma posses 78% of these 64 qualities.
(KRISHNA, VISHNU, NARAYANA, SIVA – DIFFERENCES! READ HERE!)
Lord Shiva possesses 84% of these qualities.
The living entities are also like Brahma so they also possess 78% of these qualities but in lesser magnitude.
None of them possess all the 64 qualities to 100% level (magnitude).
Srila Prabhupada explains:
“The living being can never possess attributes like Shiva, Vishnu or Lord Krishna. A living being can become godly by developing the seventy-eight-percent transcendental attributes in fullness, but he can never become a God like Shiva, Vishnu or Krishna. He can become a Brahma in due course: – Srimad Bhagavatam 1.3.28 purport”
Brahma – Samhita (Verse 45) says:
“Just as milk is transformed into curd by the action of acids, but yet the effect curd is neither same as, nor different from, its cause, viz., milk, so I adore the primeval Lord Govinda of whom the state of Shambhu is a transformation for the performance of the work of destruction”.
Brahma Samhita (verse 10):
“Lord Shiva derives his power from Lord Vishnu, “The person embodying the material causal principle, viz., the great lord of this mundane world [Maheshvara] Shambhu, in the form of the male generating organ, is joined to his female consort, the limited energy [Maya] as the efficient causal principle. The Lord of the world Maha-Vishnu is manifest in him by His subjective portion in the form of His glance.”

Lord Shiva is neither an avatara nor avesha and is also not in between them. Lord Shiva is the greatest demigod, even greater than Lord Brahma. He is the spiritual master of the entire universe.
Shiva has his own sampradaya – the Rudra – sampradaya that is now called as Vishnusvami-sampradaya or the Vallabha-sampradaya.
Since Shiva is the topmost demigod, a living entity can not become Shiva.
Since Brahma is also a living entity like us but with more powers, a man can become a brahma.
Since Vishnu is purely in the transcendental platform, becoming Lord Vishnu is also not possible for us.
Hope you are clear about whether a man becoming God possible.
