Urjitha the Lord Trivikrama- Story
Mahabali promised Vamana Deva that he would give him three feet of land.
Determined to fulfill his promise, he poured water from his water pot and gave it to him.
When the water he poured reached Vamana’s hand, He began to grow rapidly into the state of Trivikrama.
As Trivikrama (Vamana) grew tall, a voice called out, “What is this illusion?”
It was the voice of Namusi, the son of Mahabali.
Looking at Trivikrama, he said, “It is right that everyone calls you ‘Mayan’, ‘Mayan’.
Are you trying to deceive us by performing illusion?” Namusi asked angrily.
“I have not deceived anyone!” Trivikrama said.
“No! You begged my father for three feet of land by showing your small feet. Considering those small feet, my father also promised to give me three feet of land. But you suddenly take the form of the universe and try to deceive us by measuring all the worlds with your big feet. You are trying to deceive my father by performing illusion!” Namusi accused.
“Namusi! I am always present everywhere. I came as a dwarf to appear to your father. Now I have changed into my normal great form! That is all. I did not deceive your father!” said Trivikrama.
But Namusi, who did not accept that, said, “Measure yourself three times with the dwarf form you took when you were begging. I will not accept being measured with this great form!”
Disobeying his word, Trivikrama went to measure the world with his great form.
Namusi grabbed his feet and stopped him, saying,
“I will not let you measure yourself!”
Then Trivikrama kicked Namusi with his feet and made him spin in the air.
In this way, the Lord is called ‘Urjitha’ because he is so powerful that he can easily defeat demonic forces like Namushi.
‘Urjitha’ is the 158th name of the Lord in Vishnu Sahasranama.
