Think big in life – Story
A husband took his wife to the riverbank.
He gave her a bag. He showed her big stones.
He said, “Fill this bag with those stones.”
The wife filled it up and brought it back.
She said, “You can’t fill it any more.”
The husband picked up some of the pebbles (small stones) lying at the bottom. He put them in the same bag and shook it. They fell into the spaces between the big stones.
At one point, there was no room for any more pebbles.
“Will you admit that it’s full now?” the wife asked.
The husband scooped up the sand that was there and put it in the bag.
He shook the bag some more. The sand fell into the spaces between the stones and pebbles.
When the husband asked, “Would there have been room for big stones if this same bag had been filled with sand first?”
The wife agreed, “There wouldn’t have been any space for big stones.”
MORAL:
(1) Noble things that can improve life, such as love, kindness, health, mental health, etc., are big stones.
(2) Wealth like job, house, car, etc. are like pebbles.
(3) Small things like entertainment and idle chatter are like sand.
First make room for the big things in life. Then there will be room for the small things. But if you spend your life on small things, there will be no room for the important things.
