REAL FAITH IN KRISHNA – STORY
(AN INCIDENT IN THE PASTIMES OF SRI RAMANUJA)
A great devotee of Krishna Sri THIRUKKACHCHI NAMBI, a very humble devotee of Krishna (Narayana) in Kancheepuram, Tamilnadu was singing the glories of Krishna holding the flowers collected to offer to Krishna.
On his way, a villager who was doing some small daily jobs and earning for his living, met him and told him:
“Sri Thirukkachchi Nambi ji. You are doing direct service to Krishna in the temple and I know that you are even discussing with the Lord directly in front of the deities. Can you ask the Lord whether He (Krishna) has planned to take me to His abode at the end of this birth itself? I will meet you again tomorrow to know this”
Thirukkachchi Nambi ji as usual, discussed with Krishna that night when he was in his service to the deities of Krishna.
He asked Krishna what that man asked:
Krishna said:
“He will take hundreds of births and then come to me at the end”
Next day, when Nambi ji was walking with flowers collected for the Lord, the same man met him again and asked him:
“Nambiji, did you ask Krishna?”
Nambi was worried how that man will take if he says that to go back to Krishna’s abode, he has to take hundreds of births.
Nambi replied collecting the courage, but with hesitation:
“Oh dear man, Krishna told me that He will take you to His abode after hundreds of your births”
That man jumped with joy:
“Wow, how fortunate I am. This shows that Krishna is going to take me to His abode one day. I can go to Vaikunta one day in a birth. That is enough for me. Thanks for this happy news”
Nambi could not believe the reaction of that man THAT HE DID NOT EXPECT. That man did not worry for hundreds of births. Since he has known that he will go to Krishna one day, he feels happy that he too will be eligible for vaikunta one day.
He learnt the topmost form of devotion on Krishna from that man.
What this shows?
A humble devotee will be happy and satisfied whatever Krishna decides about him. He will not pressurize Krishna to consider to fulfill his desire.
