Power of Saints – Story
Initially, Saint Tukkaram was running a shop in his village.
He would sing nice songs on God while doing the sales. The people too would sing with him.
Usually Tukkaram would go home for lunch by requesting one of the visitor to have an eye on the shop till he comes back.
One day, the leader of a thieves group came to that shop.
Tukkaram requested him to be in the shop as security till he comes back after lunch.
The customers came to buy goods.
The thief leader got the money from the customers and kept in in the shop’s petty cash box.
Then, a thief from the thief group came to the shop.
That thief told the thief leader:
“The owner is not here. Why can’t we take the cash and some goods away? We can’t get such a right situation to steal.”
The thief leader said:
“ No. It is not good. Do you expect me to violate the trust put by Tukkaram on me? We may be thieves, but we should not break the trust of anyone. Tukkaram has entrusted the shop to me who is a stranger for him. I can’t break the trust of such a good person”
The thief closed his mouth.
After sometime, Tukkaram came to the shop.
The thief leader told Tukkaram:
“Sir, check everything whether all the goods and money are safe.”
Tukkaram asked him:
“Why do you ask me so? I entrusted the shop only because I had trust in you. Then, why should I check everything?”
The leader of thief felt sorry and got reformed.
He fell at the feet of Tukkaram and said:
“Sir, I am the leader of a thieves group. Your kind heart has reformed me. Hereafter, I will not steal from anyone and I will lead an ethical life by working hard.”
His thief friends also deserted their stealing activities and got reformed.
MORAL:
This is the power of saints that reforms everyone. So, if one has bad qualities, he should associate with a saintly person even for a short period that will make changes in him.
