Let the things Go – Story

Let the things Go – Story

Just as the world we live in is vast in front of us, our mind is also vast in its senses.

Sometimes we can see the world before our eyes in silence without any fuss. But the mind is always troubled and restless. So what can we do to live life peacefully?

If you think about it, this is the only way:

One day, a Zen monk was meditating in an ashram.

At that time, the king of that country was traveling on horseback. When he saw the monk’s ashram, he stopped his horse and got down and went into the ashram to seek his blessings.

The king asked the monk to bless him.

The Zen monk, who blessed the king, looked at the king’s face for a while.

Then he asked the king: “Why does your face look so restless? Do you have any grievances?” He asked.

The king had many confusions in his mind. But the king did not know what to say first.

Seeing that the king was silent, the Zen monk went inside and brought a jar.

Then he said to the king:

“I am giving you this as a gift! This is a ceramic jar, which will help you in many ways. Now you go, and if you feel like seeing me again, you can come later,” and sent him on his way.

After receiving it, the king took the jar to his palace. The jar was very beautiful to look at with various carvings. The king used the jar in various ways, such as fetching water during daily puja and picking flowers.

After a few days, suddenly one day, while fetching water, he slipped and the jar fell down and broke. Seeing this, the king was very sad. He could not bear the loss.

He again went towards the ashram to meet the Zen monk.

As soon as he entered the ashram, the monk stood before him and said:

“Namaste Swamiji, the jar you gave me has been helpful to me in many ways. Sometimes I have kept it close by and admired its workmanship. But now it has broken. I am very sad.”

The Zen monk listened to the king’s words in silence and said:

“When I gave it to you, I knew that it would break one day! I gave it to you knowing that it would break one day. That is its lifespan, its purpose has ended. The jar is of no use anymore.

But think about this. You are not really sad because of the broken jar! It is because you could not get over the time when the jar was broken! Various events happen in our lives. There are good and bad things in it. Many times, we experience even the good things to the fullest and then easily get over them.

But we cannot get over the failures or humiliations that have happened to us so easily. The reason why we live in confusion, without peace of mind and without peace of mind in every day that follows is that we keep carrying the burdens of the past without letting them go! You are the king of a country! You have a lot of understanding about what this human life is like.

Even so, why do you live a life without peace with the burdens of the past on your back? Wherever you want to get rid of it, get rid of it there! Believe that the future will definitely be full of light!

In our lives, beyond physical and economic needs, the next thing that makes us lose peace the most is the things we have lost and the humiliations we have received at some point! As soon as any action or scene disappears from our sight, if we give them freedom from our mind, we can also live a peaceful life.”

The king got his peace back. He decided to let it go out of memory once he loses something. No business of holding them at the back throughout the life.

Mantra for peaceful mind:

Let the things go from memory if you lose something. Future will be still brighter than the past and present.
