What is the karma that makes one useful or threat for others?

A Girl devotee (Name hidden) asked like this:

“Hare Krishna Sir. You described it very well but I have few questions related yesterday’s post. Here you wrote that if a person who does more charity is rich or poor it is because of the karma he added. But my question is what actions exactly did he take in his past life for which charity karma was allotted to him in this birth??

But will he be charitable or not this is due to his past actions. So exactly what was his past life ‘s actions for which he became charitable??

Same is for what actions did he take in his past life for which cheating on his wife or patient karma alloted to this life??”

REPLY:

See, Karma concept should always be read and understood along with Freewill.

Because, both karma and Freewill coexist in most of the cases.

Freewill leads to new karma.

(Role of Free will in adding or avoiding karma! Detailed Explanation! READ HERE!)

In some cases, One’s karma leads to the type of the freewill a person chooses.

I am aware that the third and fourth lines above may confuse you. Let me explain in KG way.

Freewill leads to Karma. That means, a person adds new karma by deciding to do something using his freewill.

For example, If a person has the karma of going to jail, he may have to commit some crimes.

If he is destined to have short jail term, he will use his freewill to do some small crimes like using One way on road or driving after drinking that leads to short jail term.

If he is destined to spend a remarkable part of his life in jail, he may use his freewill to commit a big crime like killing.

Here, his size of karma determines how he will use his freewill – whether to drink & drive or to kill someone.

Yesterday, I saw a news item in the television channels that a man has killed his wife, cut her body in to many parts and have cooked those pieces in the rice cooker multiple times till it becomes untraceable.

(Using the Free Will properly to get Krishna in spite of barriers! Tips! READ HERE!)

See, how badly he has used his freewill to kill his wife and also cook the body in rice cooker.

Here, he might have karma of getting popularity because of his criminal actions. So, to get that negative popularity, he has used his freewill cruelly beyond imagination.

Thus, Past karma can fix the way to which extent a person will use his freewill.

Now Let us take how one’s Freewill leads to new karma.

A person is walking. As per his karma, he is a very good person and he does not like to cheat anyone, but he may have weak mind that makes it difficult to decide between right and wrong.

He sees a beautiful girl on his way. When she called him, he should apply his freewill – whether to go with her or to say No to her.

If he chooses to say NO to her, he does not add new karma.

If he chooses to go with her he will get HIV infected because that girl is a HIV positive.

Thus, if one uses his freewill wisely as directed by the Scriptures, he can avoid new negative karma.

If he does not use his freewill properly, he will add new karma and new problem for him.

Now your question on the karma that makes one useful or threat for others:

One remains useful to others if he has the karma of living in the hearts of many. If one has such karma, he will do any good act that will add fame for him. Being charitable is one such good acts.

Which act to choose is because of his freewill.

(Using the Free Will properly to get Krishna in spite of barriers! Tips! READ HERE!)

He may choose to live in the hearts of many by being a good movie actor or good administrator or good ruler or an animal lover or a person with helping tendency.

If one faced more shortage of money in his previous birth but wanted to help others, he would have prayed to the god to give money to help others. Such a person will take birth in a rich family and also with a helping mind.

In some cases, though one does not have the interest in helping others, because of his association with kindhearted persons, he too may get helping mind.

Thus, in some cases, karma decides one to get appreciation from others and he might have used his freewill to decide to get good name by being a helpful person to others.

If one is destined to face disrepute in this birth, he may use his freewill to cheat others and get disrepute.

Karma decides disrepute. How he gets disrepute is decided by his freewill.

This is how karma and freewill coexist.

Hope you are clear about the karma that makes one useful or threat for others.
