Can we get Krishna’s Protection from Scary Dreams if we chant at night?
Two devotees had asked about Krishna’s Protection from Scary Dreams that I grouped together:

A devotee who requested anonymity asked like this:
“Hare krishna…..pamho….prabhuji………plzdnt share my name. I read ur daily posts & took print out which i really like. I have just given the xerox copies to senior devotees of ISKCON Temple. 2day i want 2 share something with u, i see dreams of my old house in my new house. Its been 7 yrs now n whn v shifted to our new house a big robbery took place at my new house. I see dreams of thiefs until now once in a month. Before sleeping i do hare krishna maha mantra….and when i see dis dream i woke up n feel scared after dat again i start chanting mahamantra.. Should i start to put a tilak on my forehead at night. Why i am still getting such dreams..Plz provide me with a best solution…….Hare krishna”
REPLY:
There is no need to fear for that dream. It is natural that anything with which we are attached to, will come in the dream. If you become still deeply attached with Krishna, such material attachments will go away and such material dreams will not come more.
Consciousness determines the nature of our dreams. If a person is attached to cinema, he will get cine actresses and actors in his dreams.
One of my neighbour is a bus conductor. His wife once said that he is telling like this while sleeping: “Ticket… Ticket… Theatre stop has come….Get Down…”

What this shows? That conductor uses whatever words he used while working, is using in his dreams also. So, your dreams indicate that you are attached more with that particular thing or person.
In my city, last fortnight, there were continuous rain for 4-5 days. Water was always flowing on the streets and water entered inside our my house compound also.
With the flow of the water a snake entered into my home at 11 PM. I was having dinner at 11 PM on that day as I was having tight schedule of horoscope predictions and site updates. After finishing two idlies (Idly is a popular South Indian food), there were two more idlies remaining to eat.
Suddenly, I had a thought of closing the gates outside the house. So, I halted eating for a minute and went to lock the outer compound gate.
There I saw a snake entering into my house. Nearly midnight. The whole street was sleeping. Dark night. Fortunately, my neighbour who is a christian was at home. I called him. He came at that odd hours and helped me to track the movement of the snake within my home. When I was holding the umbrella and showing torch, he caught that snake in a sack and took away.

Had he not helped what would have happen?
The snake would have entered any corner of my house and I could not have found its hiding place the next morning and it might have come out and when I was not alert. Even my life would have been at risk on that day.
So, Krishna’s Protection from Scary Dreams is a silly thing. Krishna protects even from life risks if He chooses to do.
You can observe two aspects in this incident of December 2021 in my house:
(i) Usually, I do not get up in the middle of taking food. On that day, Krishna wanted to alert me as the snake was entering my home. So, He made me get up in the middle of my dinner unusually. Had I finished the dinner and gone out to lock the gates, the snakes could not have been noticed by me and it would have got a place in my home somewhere like bathroom, toilet, plants, etc. So, Krishna protects His devotees even unusually.
(ii) Next point is, the neighbour who is a christian did not hesitate to come because I am not a christian. Since I maintain good relations with all without seeing caste, religion, status, devotional status, etc, he happily came readily with a sack and stick immediately after I call him. Since it was dark and heavily raining, I could not manage without his help.
This is what I am crying in our media. We should maintain good relations with all because, we need everyone in our life. Religions should not affect friendship and humanity. All are the children of God. So, it was proved on that day.

After this incident, I prepared the posts for the next day and made it ready at around 2 AM. Because, I did not want to disappoint the devotees just because of my personal problem because of the snake.
Ha Ha, when I slept at 2 AM, at around 3 am, I got a dream in which I s aw three snakes playing (!!!).
This is the point that I wanted to tell.
Do you now understand that our mind’s current status is one of the cause for the dreams?
So, respect everyone and maintain normalcy with everyone. Being kind to everyone is the true nature of a devotee. Not insulating himself from others.
Ok, let us now continue your issue:
If a devotee of Krishna who has REALLY renounced the material attachments and loves Krishna, sleeps, he will get Krishna and devotees in his dreams. He will not get any actresses in his dreams.
In your case, as you have lived in that house for long, you have been attached more with that house and hence, it comes in your dreams. So, divert your attachment MORE towards Krishna. Do all the Krishna Consciousness sadhanas regularly and sincerely. Think of Krishna all the times. Let Krishna dominates your mind more. Then, the attachments with your old house will come down gradually.
If you do this, you will not get your old house in your dream. You may see Krishna Himself.

“A woman devotee” asked like this:
“I chant a lot krishna’s names and listen to religious songs, I get up at 4:30am and meditate for 30 mins. Then I sleep ,but recently 2-3 nights, I have been getting dreams which look like my past life. And also I get dream where I am paralysed and can’t get up even though I feel I am awake and keep calling for Krishna but Krishna does not save me from this. Pls explain this to me.Thanks. Before sleeping I do listen to krishna songs/listen, chant the mantra.”
REPLY:
This is the outcome of some kind of insecurity or fear you have about your life.
You must have been frustrated with this material world and hence you feel insecured.
And, the dreams are not clear indications to decide anything correctly.
If you are very happy, you will get pleasant dreams. If you are worried, you will get such negative dreams. If you have Lord of lagna or Mars or 3rd lord weak in your horoscope, you may have scary dreams as feeling fearful to face the life will be your nature by birth.
Krishna will never fail to save His devotees. You please develop still more confidence on Krishna.
The dreams come only when the sleep is insufficient. So, If you develop total love for Krishna, you will get a sound and deep sleep and hence you will not get any dreams at all.
So, keep your mind free from attachments and expectations. Dreams will not come.
So, do not bother about whether we get Krishna’s Protection from Scary Dreams. He will do even beyond that.
