What are the jobs suitable to follow devotion also?

“hare krsna prabhuji. thanks for all your life changing posts. I complete my graduate studies this month- june. Please suggest me some jobs that will not stop me worship krsna.”
REPLY:
As a devotee, you will have to follow chanting as much as possible, offering food to Krishna, Performing the aratis, attending the temples every week and on festivals, etc.
To do these practices, your work/ business should co-operate. So, you have to select a job/ business accordingly.
Keeping the Indian Scenario in mind, I give these suggestions:
(1) Since you are yet to try for job, try for government jobs because it is easy to follow devotional sadhanas as a Government servant because the tortures like “Achieve Target, or, Lose the Job” will not be there and you will not work under direct owner. And, govt jobs offer job security and pension support till you and your spouse die. So, you will not have to fear for your livelihood as a govt servant. And, they have strictly 7 hours duty and the duty ends by 5 PM itself daily. They give excessive number of holidays and weekly two days of weekly offs. Now, the Government servants too earn on par with the top companies.
What else you need to follow devotion?
So, If a student like to do well in Krishna Bakthi, my first recommendation is tryuing for govt jobs. I will never go back from this suggestion.
You can choose any other challenging jobs if your priority is becoming crorepati, not becoming a serious devotee. But, since you have already chosen to follow devotion, try for govt jobs.
Only if you remain peaceful, you can perform Krishna consciousness comfortably. So, try for govt jobs till your age permits.
Since govt jobs require writing exams, it is a time taking process. So, till you get a govt job, work in a good private job according to your interest and qualification and ensure that the allows you some time to perform devotional practices. But, keep the spirit if trying for govt jobs and try properly.
(2) If you do not get govt jobs, your next choice can be working in a GOOD STANDING company and position that is suitable for your devotional practices. Now-a-days, all students can not get govt jobs. So, next choice will be private jobs. If you work in reputed companies, you have to update yourself with the changing technologies because, if you do not update yourself, your company will not keep you. You can not expect job security in companies as companies keep you expecting profits. So, you will have to prove your fitness till you retire. Of course, we should work well. No company would like to lose a good worker who produces good profits to the company.
So, if you choose private job, follow Krishna Consciousness sincerely and at the same time, be sincere in job and update yourself in latest trends.
(3) Final option will be own business. Unless you like to become a rich person or like to give employment to many, own business should be your last option because you will always be keeping your business on your head. If you are working somewhere, you can forget your job after coming back home. But, as a business person, you have to think of business even in home. So, Business should be your last option IF YOU LIKE TO BE SERIOUS IN DEVOTION. I myself lost my existing business growth because I am seriously involved in the service to Krishna. If you do a business, you should concentrate more in businessn and follow the devotion as a part time activity.
And, unless you gain sufficient experience in a field by working in that related field, you should not start business without experience. And, you should have more than the required money while starting business. Expand your business according to your time and man power availability. Never start a business in which you do not have experience. Keep corporates like Vijay Malliah in mind. He had to sell his existing liquor business itself just because he started airline business in which he had no sufficient experience.
And, follow companies like Airtel, Vodafone, etc that is exclusively sticking to telephone/ data business. Do only the businesses in which you are comfortable and knowledgeable. Some traditional companies like Tatas, Birlas and Ambanis are in this land even before liberalization and hence they could shine in many fields simultaneously. You should not try in their same style. Shine in just one or two activities..
Now, take time and evaluate yourself. Start your career by reviewing your talents and interests. Select one in which you have sufficient interest and comfortability.
Allocate atleast two hours for the service of Krishna every day. Make your professional planning accordingly.
