Is an unqualified non devotee husband also a representative of Krishna?

Is an unqualified non devotee husband also a representative of Krishna?

There are two types of views among the devotees about serving an unqualified non devotee husband because a section of the girl devotees think that only a devotee can be a representative of Krishna and they don’t accept that a drinking or smoking non devotee husband also a representative of Krishna as he is a fallen guy.

But, to maintain the social order and to clear the reactions of our karma related to the marriage, it is accepted that even an unqualified non devotee husband also a representative of Krishna.

Let us Read what Srila Prabhupada said about this matter:

(1)

“All women have just one duty or dharma in this world— to serve her husband. When we say all women, then it means all women. It is called stri-dharma (SB 7.11.25-29). For the wife, vivaha is her second birth (dvi-ja) her initiation into Vedic culture. And moving into husband’s house is not just moving into the house, it means she goes to live in the asrama. Who’s asrama? The ashrama of her husband. If husband is qualified, it is grhastha ashrama. If not, it is a grhamedhi life. But it does not matter if husband is qualified or not according to our standard or expectations. He is still the representative of Krishna. Who sent us this husband? Krishna sent him. The wife can still make spiritual progress even if the husband is not a devotee.”

(2)

“If husband wants her to serve him meat, alcohol, sex, etc, she should serve him. She will not get any reaction for doing that (BG 18.47), because she is doing her dharma (stri dharma); she is following her husband’s instructions, which means she is following her duty. So she will not get any reaction, but her husband will get reaction if he demands something that is not according to dharma.”

(3)

“The wife must remain embraced by her husband. Thus she becomes beloved and well protected. A wife is therefore called ardhangani, or half of the body. One cannot remain with only one leg, one hand or only one side of the body. He must have two sides.” – (Srila Prabhupada,  Srimad-Bhagavatam – 4.26.17).

Can an unmarried girl accept Krishna Himself as her husband if she fears to marry a man?

Yes, it is also allowed if the girls do not like to marry any boy. Let us read what Srila Pranhupada says about this:

(4)

“Accept Krishna as your husband and He will never cheat you. He is competent to maintain any number of wives with full comforts because He is Omnipotent. So remain busy in the service of your Husband and you will be happy in this life as well as in the next.”

Thus for those women who had been already married, her husband is Krishna for her though he is unqualified. If a girl likes to remain unmarried and consider Krishna as her husband, it is also allowed.  However, for the girls, they should try very sincerely for marriage. Only if they don’t get a boy to marry in spite of all efforts, he can avoid marriage.

So, we should note that unqualified non devotee husband also a representative of Krishna.
