POLITICS IN KALIYUGA – STORY
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut.
After the cut, he asked about his bill.
the barber replied:
‘I cannot accept money from you, I’m doing community service this week.”
The florist was pleased and left the shop.
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a ‘Thank You’ card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a grocer comes in for a haircut.
After cutting the hairs, when he tried to pay his bill, the barber again replied:
“I cannot accept money from you, I’m doing community service this week.”
The grocer was happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a ‘Thank You’ card and a bag of fresh vegetables waiting for him at his door.
Then a politician came in for a haircut.
When that politician went to pay his bill, the barber again replied:
“I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.”
The politician was very happy and left the shop.
The next morning, the barber went to open the door.
He was stunned to see.
A dozen politicians lined up waiting for a free haircut.
That illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.
OBSERVATION:
Srimad Bhagavatham (12.2.7-9)says how the politicians will be in the advancing kaliyuga:
- Text 7:
As the earth thus becomes crowded with a corrupt population, whoever among any of the social classes shows himself to be the strongest will gain political power.
Text 8:
Losing their wives and properties to such avaricious and merciless rulers, who will behave no better than ordinary thieves, the citizens will flee to the mountains and forests.
Text 9:
Harassed by famine and excessive taxes, people will resort to eating leaves, roots, flesh, wild honey, fruits, flowers and seeds. Struck by drought, they will become completely ruined.
