“Hare Krishna Prabhuji, First of all, thank you soo much for giving us this website. I have got so many doubts cleared about devotion which were in my head. I am a student (non initiated) who has just passed school and is studying for college entrance exams.
Prabhuji my question was about wearing the Rings & Pendants with God’s Pictures, for eg: Narasimha kavach pendant. Does wearing the pendants like Narasimha kavach pendant reduces the effects of our past bad karmas given by planets? Does wearing it saves us from dark magic and occult? Are there any strict rules of wearing it?

Wearing the Rings & Pendants with God’s Pictures effective to reduce the problems to some extent if they are used with devotion.
Kavacha means Protection from problems. Not the eradication of problems themselves.
Wearing helmet does not prevent accident from occuring, but, it helps us to escape from death by giving the exposure of our head to be hit.
Wearing the seat belt is not to avoid the accidents, but to protect the head from colliding on the front portion of car at the time of accidents.

Similarly, Narasimha Kavacha Mantra is to protect us when we face problems and barriers in life.
Because, the Avatar of Narasimha happened to protect when His dear devotee Prahalatha was under life threat.
There are two types of mantras:
(1) To Prevent the occurance of the problems totally.
(2) To Protect us when we face the problems.
(1) MANTRAS TO PREVENT PROBLEMS
Maha Mantra, ie, the Lord’s Holy Names coined as Maha Mantra protects us from all the problems of life by relieving us from the clutch of maya and allow us to enter into the Kingdom of Krishna.
Maha Mantra also acts as Kavacha Mantra by giving us the knowledge of absolute truth that makes us not caring the problems occuring to our bodies and bodily relations.

Since we get the sufficient knowledge about the body and soul, we get the maturity and a feel of Krishna’s Protection always protecting us. This will make us not bothering for the bodily problems.
By relieving us from maya, ie, material attachments, Maha Mantra gives Permanent relief from the problems.
(2) MANTRAS TO PROTECT FROM PROBLEMS
Mantras like Sri Narasimha Kavacha helps us by reducing the intensity of the problems, or, by giving the successful outcome in favour of us.
For example, if we have the karma of facing a serious accident, Mantras like Sri Narasimha Kavacha reduces the severity of the accident to the small one with very less casualties like falling from the chair, table, stairs, etc., without much casualties.

Big issues may end without much damage to your image or resources.
Big diseases may go with less difficulty for us by getting controlled by the medicines without destabilizing us.
Wearing Narasimha Kavacha Pendent may be effective to some extent. But, the reduction of karma requires change of consciousness and reduction of attachments.
For example, if a habitual offender is wearing Narasimha Kavacha Pendant using that to show himself as a good person, how can he expect good results?
So, unless you reduce the material attachments, you can’t expect big changes in the events of life.
