The devotees are Superior – Story!
A devotee of Vishnu ended his earthly life and went to Vaikunta.
Vishnu praised his good deeds in his earthly life and said, “You have got the life of Vaikunda because of your good deeds. You can be happy here.”
The devotee said to Vishnu:
“Lord! Even though I have answers to many questions in the world, my mind is slightly flawed as it does not know the answer to just one question.”
He said, “You should help by removing that deficiency.”
Vishnu knew his grievance but did not show it and said:
“Really? You should not complain anything as you have got a Vaikunda life… Tell your grievances. I will solve the problem immediately,” He said.
“Lord! The people in the earth are fighting for who is the greatest of all the people in the world? This question even led to conflicts between them.”
“It is still the same. Even though there are so many great things in the world such as seas and mountains, these people praise themselves as great. You must tell the fact to me. Who is the highest in the world?” He said.
Vishnu smiled and said:
“You are right. “The sea and the mountains are the biggest,” He said.
The devotee said, “You are right, Agasthiya Rishi, a small sage, has drunk the whole ocean. Lord Kartikeya has thrown down the Granja mountain. Looking at these actions on Earth, I cannot accept the sea and mountains as big.”
“So who do you think is the greatest?” The Lord asked.
“Greater than the world is the Lord Himself” The devotee replied.
“No no you may be wrong…”, the Lord replied.
The boy said:
“When you took Vamana avatara, you measured the earth with your small foot in one step. You have measured the sky in one step. So you are the greatest”
“There are many great men in the world. They are devotees like you. He who has the highest devotion in the world, who knows that whatever happens is God’s will and his fate, and who thinks that no matter how much sorrow occurs, he is the highest.”
“How can you accept that only the devotees who can worship you are great?”
Immediately, Vishnu asked him to bring the Devaloka mirror from there.
“Look at your chest in that mirror,” said Vishnu.
A small image of Vishnu was visible inside his chest when he saw inside that mirror.
Vishnu said, “Have you looked in the mirror, you have kept me small in your heart, who measured the world in one foot. Then how can I be great? So you are the greatest in the world. The devotees are Superior & the greatest.”
The devotee was happy and fell at the Lord’s Lotus feet!
