RIGHT TO LIVE – STORY

This story happened in a foreign country.

The case came to court when a shopkeeper handed over a boy to the police for stealing cheese and bread.

The judge inquired into the crime and asked the boy:

“Did you really steal some bread and cheese?”*

The boy looked down and answered silently: “Yes.”

Judge:- “Why?”

Boy: – “I needed it.”

Judge: – “Couldn’t you have bought?”

Guy: – “No money.”

Judge: – “Probably from the family.”

Boy:- “There is only mother at home who is sick and unemployed..

Judge: – “Didn’t you do anything?”

Boy:- “Used to wash the car. When I took a day off to care for my mother, I was fired.

Judge: – “Didn’t you ask anyone for help?”

Boy: – “Leaved home since morning and went to about fifty (50) people, but no one helped; So, I decided to take this step last.

*When the arguments were over, the judge proceeded to deliver the verdict;

.”Stealing, especially when a hungry boy steals bread, is a most shameful crime, for which we are all responsible.”

Every person in the court, including me, is guilty. So every person here is fined ten dollars each. No one can leave here without paying ten dollars.”

Saying this, the judge took ten dollars from his pocket, took out a pen and started writing the name accordingly.

‘Also, I will fine the store a thousand dollars for handing over a hungry child to the police.’

“If the fine is not deposited within 24 hours, the court will order the shop to be sealed.”

“Also, the police are fined the same amount for filing a case against a starving boy.”

The court apologizes to the boy by paying the full amount of the said fine.

On hearing the verdict, tears flowed from the eyes of those present in the court, and the boy’s hand was untied.

The boy was repeatedly looking at the judge who came out hiding his tears.

“Are our societies, institutions and courts ready to make such a decision?”

“If a starving man is caught stealing bread, the people of the country should be ashamed.”

MORAL:

Everyone has a right to live; It is the duty of the government and the society to protect every citizen. Otherwise, it is the shame for the country and the people.
