Old Age Home – Story

Old Age Home – Story

After his father died, his son put his mother in a nursing home because he could not take care of her.

Since his wife also went to work, he put his mother in an old age home because there was no one to take care of her at home.

He used to visit his mother there once a month.

Years passed.

One day, he received the news that his mother was very ill.

The son immediately went to visit his mother.

The mother was on the verge of death.

“Do you need anything?” the son asked.

Mother said:

“There are no electric fans in this nursing home. I have not slept for many days due to lack of air and mosquito bites. I have not eaten for many days because I could not eat the spoiled food served here. So, will you buy some electric fans for this home and a refrigerator to keep the food from spoiling?”

The mother asked in a soft voice.

The son was surprised.

“I have been coming to see you for many years. You have never said such a thing to me. Why are you asking this only now?” he asked.

She said slowly looking up at his son’s face:

“Son, I have gotten used to sleeping here without an electric fan and enduring mosquito bites. I can bear the hunger and suffering here. But I feel sorry that you will not be able to bear them when your children send you to this home. That is why I am asking now,” she said.

The son bowed his head down.

The things that hurt in life also teach you. If we hurt others in the morning, we will face the similar hurt in the evening! Never give sufferings to others.
