ENDLESS BHAGAVAD GITA – STORY

ENDLESS BHAGAVAD GITA – STORY

An old man was sitting at the door of his house every day and reading the Bhagavad Gita.

A young man had been watching this for many days.

One day he came to him and asked:

“Ji! You always read this book. How long have you been reading this?

The old man said:

“It will be fifty to fifty-five years”

“Then, You must have memorized this book. Then why are you still reading it?”

He asked.

The Oldman smiled and said:

“Do me a favor. You do that and I will answer you after you finish”

The young man asked:

“What favor Ji?”

The oldman without saying anything picked up a bamboo basket that was nearby.

It had charcoal in it. He dumped it in a corner.

He had carried the charcoal for many days. The inside of that basket had turned black.

The elder man said:

“Brother. Water is flowing from the pump. Bring some water in this basket”

The young man laughed.

However, since the oldman had told him, he went and filled it with water and brought it back.

Before he could reach it, all the water leaked out through the holes in the bamboo basket onto the ground.

The oldman said:

“Just one more time”

The young man tried again.

He told:

“How can water stay in a bamboo basket? It spilled down again”

The old man asked:

“Fill it with water just once more for my wish.”

The young man came to a decision.

“Just this time only, let’s do as he says”.

He againbrought water.

As usual, all the water was on the ground.

“Ji.. This is your basket. Do you know that water won’t stay in this? Why are you making me suffer like this?”

He said with a smile:

“I also know that water won’t stay in this. When you first went to catch water, what was the inside of this basket like?”

The young man said:

“It was very dirty and black”

“Now look this”, he said.

The water was clear and the black color of the basket had disappeared.

“The inside of the basket is clean”

Now,the oldman said:

“Brother, this is the answer to your question. No matter how many times you soak the water, the bamboo basket is never full. However, Every time you soak the water, the basket becomes clean. Is that so?”

“No matter how many times you read, you cannot say that you will memorize the entire Bhagavad Gita.  But every time you read, the dirt inside and the stains will also be cleaned”

He said.

The truthful words ofthat oldman made the young man think deeply.

By Chanting the name of God, our mental impurities will be removed.

By Reading devotional poems and reading Bhagavad Gita, thoughts on God will increase.

Mental worries will disappear and Our past karmic reactions will disappear.

So, Bhagavad Gita must be read daily though it seemsthat you have memorized it.

Because it is a limitless knowledge.
