Srimad Bhagavatam – Greatness & Glories!

Srimad Bhagavatam – Greatness & Glories!

Srimad-Bhagavatam is considered to be the ripened fruit of the Vedic tree!

Srimad-Bhagavatam is the desire-tree of Vedic wisdom.

Vedas are the aggregate of knowledge.

And whatever knowledge is required for the elevation of human society is perfectly presented in the Srimad Bhagavatam.

Srimad Bhagavatam is the best of all Puranas and its glories are as brilliant as the Sun.

Sri Vyasa deva, the compiler of the Vedic texts, advises us as follows:

nigama-kalpa-taror galitam phalam
shuka-mukhad amrita-drava-samyutam
nigama bhagavatam rasam alayam
muhur aho rasika bhuvi bhavukah

“O expert and thoughtful men, relish Srimad Bhagavatam, the mature fruit of the desire tree of Vedic literatures. It emanated from the lips of Sri Shuka
Muni. Therefore this fruit has become even more tasteful, although its
nectarean juice was already relishable for all, including liberated souls.”

Glories of Srimad Bhagavatam as said by Srila Prabhupada

Prabhupada’s Lecture – Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.22.19 — August 8, 1976, Tehran:

“The Srimad Bhagavatam is called the Paramahamsa-samhita, the treatise for the highest class of human beings.”

Prabhupada’s Lecture – Bhagavad-gita 7.3 — June 3, 1968, Montreal:

“Srimad-Bhagavatam, in every verse there is poetic genius.”

Prabhupada’s Lecture – Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.16.22 — July 12, 1974, Los Angeles:

“Vedanta means the essence of cream of Vedic knowledge. That is Vedanta. That cream of Vedanta knowledge is further explained in the Srimad-Bhagavatam.”

Prabhupada’s Room Conversation — September 4, 1976, Vrndavan:

“I say about Bhagavata’s description. How perfect it is in any subject matter. I have tried to explain what is there in the Bhagavatam, expand it. That is not my explanation; that is Krsna’s explanation. I cannot explain now. That moment I could explain. That means Krsna’s… I can understand that, that the description is very nicely given. Although it is my writing, but I know it is not my writing. It is Krsna’s writing. So we should read Bhagavatam always.”

Prabhupada’s Lecture – Srimad-Bhagavatam 2.1.1 — June 9, 1974, Paris:

”If we read for one hundred years continually and try to understand one word of Srimad-Bhagavatam, then it will take hundred years.”

“What is the limit of learning? The limit, learning, is when you understand Srimad-Bhagavatam. That is the limit. Finished. There is no knowledge required any more. Therefore it is called The ultimate, first class”

Srimad Bhagavatam (2.8.16), Translation and Purport:

Maharaja Parīkṣit is not satisfied with only material knowledge. He is inquisitive about the character and activities of the great souls, the devotees of the Lord. The glories of the Lord and the glories of His devotees, combined together, comprise the complete knowledge of Śrimad-Bhagavatam.
