What if the material desires exist even after following devotion?

What if the material desires exist even after following devotion?

A male devotee (Name hidden) asked like this:

“Hare Krishna Prabhu, I read the article below..thank you very much.  i have a follow up question..i have been following Krishna consciousness for nearly 16 years now..never missed 16 rounds last 7 years, added Vishnu sahasranmam recitation as well, first 7 years attended daily home pgm mornig and evening and last 3 years attended weekly 2 pgms, take prasadam 98% of the times, but still i am unable to overcome the desire to get married .i am reaching 44 next month. i am neother getting a conducive devotee bride to get married nor my desire to get married is goig away and i am in a very suffering position.

In the article posted on 10.09.2026 titled “Why should a devotee marry just to have pleasures for 2-3 times?”

You mentioned how by practicing KC material desires will go away, so i am wondering why it is not takin effect..( my siksha guru is from gaudiya vaishnavism and diksha guru is from sri vaishnava parampara)”

REPLY:

You have chanted 16 rounds for 7 years;

You have recited Vishnu Sahasra Nama also;

You have attended house program for 3 years;

You have been taking prasadam most of the times.

Fine. It is really good.

You have referred the following post:

(Why should a devotee marry just to have pleasures for 2-3 times?

You have followed Sadhana bhakti or Vaidhi Bhakti for many years.

All Good.

But, Are you loving Krishna all these years?

For how many years you have been loving Krishna?

Can you live without thinking of Krishna all the time?

See, Vaidhi bhakti should lead a practitioner to the state of unconditionally Loving Krishna.

If this result does not come, that means, that practitioner has followed Vaidhi Bhakti mechanically.

The purpose of chanting everyday is to go to the state of loving Krishna because we sacrifice our time for chanting the Holy Names of Krishna and there is no difference between Krishna and His Names.

Chanting means, uttering the names of the Lord from the heart with single focus, taste and love, not mechanically from the lips with multiple thoughts.

We should DEDICATE our time for chanting and other practices wholeheartedly as our primary duty.

The purpose of honouring prasadam is to avoid contamination of our love for Krishna thru karmic transfer thru food as Krishna prasadam is Krishna Himself who is the purest that can purify anyone from material contamination.

While cooking, you should cook for Krishna, not for you. We should cook to satisfy Krishna. Whhatever you prepare, do for Krishna. Never eat anything without offering to Krishna.

The purpose of taking more association is to get purified by receiving the spiritual vibrations from those who have more such storage thru their sadhanas.

Similarly, if you associate with those devotees who love Krishna, you too will start to love Krishna.

Association makes everything.

Thus, if a devotee performs all sadhanas as spiritual tools to connect to Krishna, not just to finish daily rounds with tension and irritation, such a chanting will not give material detachment.

Mind and heart should actively involve in our chanting, offering, asspociating, etc. These sadhanas should not be followed just as a mechanical process.

Finishing the rounds is not important. How deeply you thought about Krishna while chanting is very important.

Just offering is not important; With how much love you are offering to Krishna is very important.

Because, Krishna does not need anything from us. But He is attracted by our Love with which we offer anything to Him.

In the Chapter 9, Verse 26 of the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna states that He gladly accepts even simple and sincere offerings—such as a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or water—(only) if they are given with pure love and devotion.

patraṁ puṣpaṁ phalaṁ toyaṁ yo me bhaktyā prayacchati
tad ahaṁ bhakty-upahṛtam aśnāmi prayatātmana

This means, Lord accepts only the love with which we offer any eatables and evenour chanting to Him.

So, Love is important. Not just the materials and mechanical process.

So, I assure you that you will definitely feel material detachment and love for Krishna IF YOU DO ANYTHING – CHANTING, OFFERING, etc, WITH LOVE.

I am feeling that in my own experience. I have no agitation of ups and downs in life. My only worry is that this service should benefit more and more devotees as I want to spare my time for serving Krishna more and more effectively. That is why, I am requesting the devotees to share our posts more and more in social media and forums, not for my becoming rich. Krishna is taking care of me with dignity. I have no prayers from Krishna except His service that should benefit lakhs of people to get the love for Krishna.

We alone should not enjoy the bliss of reading about Krishna. This service should reach more and more people and lakhs of people should feel the same bliss and motivation to follow Krishna Consciousness.

You too start to follow sadhanas as advised by me above. Feel the difference in you within an year.

And, marriage is not an unwanted factor for the devotees. If you get a sincere devotee to marry, that means, your karma allows to marry. Then, you can marry that sincere devotee girl and follow devotion with her.

In the matters of marriage, karma plays its role. It is your duty to try for marriage with a devotee girl. Leave the outcome to Krishna. He will do only good to His devotees.

It is not correct to say that only the married devotees are fortunate and others are cursed sections. Not at all.

Ha Ha, The fact is reverse considering the trend of this kaliyuga!

So, if you get married to a degvotee girl, feel happy. If you don’t get a devotee girl and remain unmarried, feel double happy.

Married life is a mercy of Krishna; Brahmachari life is the double mercy of Krishna.

All is for good. Nothing is negative in life.

How is this?
