Krishna Vs Others – Whom to Pray to get married?
A devotee (requested anonymity) asked like this:
“Hare Krishna! I have a question. One of my cousin is single and has a string desire to get married but somehow it’s not getting fulfilled. I shared with her the story you shared few weeks back of karma for marriage. So after hearing that, she asked me then what should I do to get married? She is a religious person but not specifically Krishna devotee but chants maha mantra. Please don’t share my name.”
REPLY:
For some people, as per their karma, the marriage may be delayed;
For others, it happens even in their teen age;
For a few others, it never happens at all.
Srila Prabhupada too supported seeing horoscope for marriage. He himself has appreciated the astrologer who predicted that Prabhupada will become a Popular Spiritual master. Thus, one’s horoscopes are the indications of one’s previous karma.
ONLY ONE CONDITION: The astrologer must be genuine and talented. They are rare now a days.
So, as per the horoscope astrology, there are many reasons for delay in marriage.
A few among them:
Astrologically, if the star Venus is weak, or, the seventh house of one’s horoscope is weak, or there were planets like Rahu or Ketu or Mars or Saturn stand in the second or seventh house, their marriage will get delayed.
If the houses 2, 7, 9 are clean or with good planets and Venus is very strong, that person gets married even in their teen age. If there is venus and mars in 7th house, the person will never bear any delay in marriage. He must be done early marriage.
If there are many undesirable planets in the houses 2, 7, 9, etc, (or) the Venus also is very weak and there is no aspect of jupiter, that person never gets married in his life time.
There are many other factors also account for such issues in marriage. If I write everything, this reply will become an astrological article.
Now, let us see what to do for your friend if there are some planet positions that delay her marriage:
There are two ways:
(1) Accepting and bearing the outcome of karma patiently. That is, if her karma is good or normal, she will get married at any cost one day. So, ask her to wait and try for groom patiently without losing heart.
(2) Next, Praying to get married.
Now, there will be confusion. Whom to ask? Directly to Krishna? or, to Demigods or celestials?
Since I promote pure devotion without expectations, I usually do not recommend praying for anything from Krishna, because Krishna is capable of relieving us from material bondage.
However, praying to Krishna is not wrong also till we come to the stage of pure devotees because the devotees depend only on Krishna for all his needs and welfare. So, praying to Krishna is not prohibited though we are expected to go to the next higher stage of praying only His mercy to come up in His service.
O.k, since you have asked about praying, I am giving options:
If you ask Krishna, He will give her a husband ONLY IF that will give good life to your friend. If she will suffer if she gets married, Krishna will not OK that request immediately . He will never allow His devotees suffer. Any boon from Krishna will be for our upliftment only, not for downgrading us. If your friend asks a husband NOT TO enjoy this material world, but, to do better service to Krishna, Krishna will consider that and approve that relaxing her karma barrier.
So, she can pray to Krishna directly, if she is ready to serve Krishna along with her husband.
If your friend likes to get married to enjoy this material world, she must ask Durga Devi or Lord Shiva or Lord Ganesha. Because, they are the controllers of this material world. That is why, many girls pray Durga Devi or Shiva or Ganesh for marriage. Even exalted souls Gopis prayed Durga devi (Kathyayini) to marry Krishna.
But, if you ask Durga Devi , she may bless us to have husband, but, the married life after marriage depends on her karma. If the karma is very serious, that marriage life may have problems.
So, approaching Krishna is safe, because, He will give husband if it is good for you. To fasten the mercy of Lord, ask her to involve seriously in Krishna consciousness sadhanas.
However, asking material benefits from Krishna or demigods is not encouraged in Pure devotion. It expects us to contact them only for advancement in devotion to Krishna.
However, this answer has been given because your friend should decide that she must start to serve to Krishna if she expects Krishna to relax her past karma. Only when we sacrifice our material desires, we get full mercy of Krishna.
Then, what to do?
Ask your friend to seriously chant and involve in devotional service associating with the devotees. Ask her to accept a bonafide guru. From that moment, she gets a new birth as a servant of Krishna WITHOUT ANY KARMA. Ask her to give her horoscope to the temple president of the temple with which she is associated. For example, every ISKCON centre is doing the free service of assisting in marriage between devotees. They will not help for non-devotees or outsiders, but only for regular devotees! So, ask your friend to be sincere in Krishna’s service. Thus, she will be able to get a devotee husband himself.
How fortunate she will be if this happens?
