How athma loses its real bliss and how to make athma blissful again?

A girl devotee asked like this:

“Hk Prabu. We are athma. Right? athma is full of bliss. But why we can not get that bliss within this body? How to make athma blissful again? please explain..”

REPLY:

Yes, we are athma, not this body.  This is the FIRST LESSON in the Spiritual Learning and realization. This is the first preaching by Krishna too in Bhagavad Gita.

Krishna is always Anandamaya, ie, full of bliss.  Have you seen Krishna with a worried face?  If He becomes worried, it will be only because when He sees His devotees going away from Him or suffering. Because, Krishna is eagerly expecting everyone of us to come to Him.

(I am oscillating between Krishna Consciousness and unavoidable problems that makes me guilty. Help me! READ HERE!)

Krishna was very much worried when Bhishma laid himself on the bed of nails in the battle field. Because, He does not like to see the dear devotees like Bhishma to suffer.  So, Krishna was silently sitting in dhyan in the late night hours thinking of the sufferings of Bhishma.

He has no worries for any other reasons.  He is always thinking of His devotees.  If we start to chant HARE KRISHNA Maha Manthra, the Lord starts to hear our words eagerly.  He gets pleased that this devotee is calling His name even in this highly materialistic kaliyuga.

Krishna is filled with bliss all the time.  Since the athma is also a part of Krishna, athma in its original state is also free and blissful. Only when it takes a body and develop material attachments, it starts to get attached with the material affairs.

However, we can give back the original bliss of athma, ie ourselves.  If a departed son rejoins with his father, how happy both the father and son will be? (You can read this story in Bible also).

Similarly, when the athma rejoins with its original master Krishna, both Krishna and athma becomes happy. Because, Krishna feels happy when a fallen soul comes back to Him. Athma too becomes blissful as it has rejoined with his master Krishna.

So, we only are binding ourselves more and more with the material things.  When we are given a spouse, our mind does not stop with that.  It makes us to wander here and there for more sense gratification whenever opportunity comes.

Though he owns a car, he gets excited when a new model car is introduced in the market.  Though he earns twenty thousand dollars, he does not get satisfied and is trying to earn by all means lakhs of dollars. One day, he lies down with a heart attack because of excessive works without rest.

A woman can clean the house just with a natural dust cleaner that cost just Rs.100.  But, she likes to have a machine for that also.  She is owning more and more machines for grinding, mixing, juicing, heating, cooling, washing clothes, etc etc.  Machines for everything.  So, no physical works and hence new diseases. Now a days, even the women get heart attacks that were very rare among women  till their age 60.

Thus, the entire society has become slaves for machines.  If a machine becomes faulty, they become tensed. All the works become standstill.

Even when Krishna came to this earth, there was no electricity. The world was happy even without electricity. Now, imagine what will happen if there is no electricity in this world.

In fact, to live happily, no instruments are required.  There were only group families with grandparents, parents, children, grandchildren, etc. Everyone shared the works and did.  So, they worked with entertainment chatting with themselves.

Now, we have become addicted to machines and devices. Unless those devices are used for the service of Krishna, they are just materials.

Thus, we have developed more and more attachments day by day with the people and materials in this material world. In brief, we have become the victims of the tricks of maya.  If a man likes to enjoy this world, maya shows some enjoyments first and then binds him tightly in the material attachments. That man becomes unable to escape from such seriously developed bonds.

(How One falls due to attachments as said by Krishna? READ HERE!)

Thus, we only are binding ourselves with the material world more and more. Then, how can the athma be blissful? Athma has been surrounded with material dusts and hence it has lost its light and bliss.

Ok, how to make athma blissful again?

If we like to feel the real bliss and brightness of athma, we have to desert the attachments. That is why, the faces of ‘true’ sanyasis glow with bliss since they have wiped off the dusts of material attachments.

Therefore, reduce material desires and involve all your materials and material desires to serve Krishna. Make the material works as services and also manage your life with simple living and high thinking about Krishna.

Your face and heart too will glow with the bliss since the athma is feeling the same.

This task may be difficult, but, with a balanced analysis of your life and making right changes in your attitude and priorities, you can achieve the same.

If you take some small efforts to go closer to Krishna, He pulls you strongly towards Himself.
