Why Brahmanas are given more importance than other varnas?

“A devotee (Name hidden)” asked like this:

“why bramhans are called as ishtadeva of lord?why so much importance given to bramhin race? why in sriptures it is written that lower community people should not read vedas, should not do tapas etc? who are these people to call others lower and themselves greater even than lord himself? why so much discrimination in vedic dharma? eager to know it, waiting for ur answer”

REPLY:

You have asked this question of why Brahmanas are given more importance  to a brahmana Himself, ie, me. I laughed when I read this!

Actually, all of today’s brahmanas (including me) are not actual brahmanas. According to vedas, a brahmana should not go for work and earn money. He must teach vedas, perform vedic ceremonies and preach vedic texts and then get biksha from the people for his service and should live with that biksha.

Even that biksha was encouraged as kinds not as cash. When the brahmanas performed some rituals in the families of other varnas, they gave horses, cows, gold, rice, grains, dhaals, vegetables, dhotis, sarees, as dakshina to that brahmana.

(Being a brahmana or Vaishnava – which is recommended for kaliyuga? READ HERE!)

Even the pujaris in any temple are brahmanas. So, that brahmana need not go to any job, as all the family needs are donated by the beneficiaries.

This is real brahmana. Do you think the caste of brahmana is an easy one? I know that it is not so.

When a brahmana performs some vedic ceremonies in the house of others, he actually accepts a part of karma of that family and reduces their pains. Because, he is performing death rituals, marriages, festivals, etc.

When many people come to a temple and tell their problems to the pujari, in fact, the pujari too accepts part of the pains and hence karma of those people, as he acts as a guru to the people, because, the people entrust their problems to that pujari considering him as the representative of Lord.

Thus, a brahmana bears the pains of all the other people. That is why, we have seen that many vedic brahmanas are suffering in their personal life.

My father too faced so many difficulties in life and died because he too was a vedic brahmana who was a scholar in vedas and also preached to others.

Now, I too am facing health issues after starting serious preaching and vedic services. Previously, I had good health. When we preach, we reform others. So, part of their karma comes to the preachers.  The following link gives the details of how it happens even for the preachers, siksha gurus, etc.

(DOES A DIKSHA GURU OR SIKSHA GURU ACCEPT THE KARMA OF DISCIPLES? HOW? READ HERE!)

So, a brahmana may seem to be an upper caste for our outer look. But, they are in fact suffering in life.

I am talking about real vedic brahmanas who have vedic preaching and temple service as their exclusive livelihood.

If a vedic brahmana is going for job and is doing vedic rituals and preachings as part time job for additional earning, he is not a brahmana. As he is going for job outside, he is in fact a sudhra. I was once a vysia, because, I was doing businesss for living. Those who earn through trade and business are actually vysias. Now only, I am a brahmana since I am in the service of the Lord and Vedas as full time.

Thus, today’s caste system is not the actual system. Actual varnashrama system did not advise any discrimination among varnas. Because, every varna is depending on other varnas for livelihood. So, every varna should respect all other varnas.

If there is no vysia, all other 3 varnas will starve because of non availability of grains , milk, vegetables, etc, as vysias have to take care of those needs of people.

Similarly, if brahamanas are not there, the world will become the place of criminals. because, brahmanas speak of god, sastras, social rules, etc to the common people.

So, all the other 3 varnas are living with some control. If brahmanas are not there, all the people will lead an animal like life as there will be no one to remind them about sastra rules and to do vedic rituals. As vedic rituals are not done, there will be no rain and hence, all the people will starve.

(Is it true that Vaishnavas are equal to Brahmanas? Why? READ HERE!)

So, brahmanas are the backbones and teachers of this society. So, they are respected by all the other people voluntarily. In fact, they deserve this respect.

However, problem comes only when some brahmanas misuse their position and suppress others. If they do like that, they are not real brahmanas. because, a brahmana should have SATVA GUNA. Satva Guna people will not get angry for material reasons.

So, remember that real brahmanas will not do as written by you. Those who suppress others are not brahmans. So, be relieved.

There is no problem in the system. The problem is with the people only as they misuse this system and suppress others.

A real brahmana should be respected. There is no doubt in it. Because, a real brahmana sacrifices his life for others. They live for the society.

So, do not hesitate to love and honour true and sacrificing brahmanas. They are the representatives of the Lord.

Hope you are clear why Brahmanas are given more importance than other varnas.
