If we offer meat to a demigod, does it go to Krishna?
A devotee who requested anonymity asked like this:
“Hare Krishna prj, dandwat pranam. While reading Bhagwad Gita ch-3, I came to know that everything offered to Demi-Gods goes to Lord Vishnu. Suppose we are offering non-veg to Goddess Kaali, it will go to Lord Vishnu. Then why we can not offer to Lord Vishnu, as these offerings are going to him.?
Please don’t enclose my name prj, Hare Krishna. I know, in Bhagad Gita 9.24 it is described what to offer to Lord. But still I want to know the science behind this.”
REPLY:
Actually, Lord will never accept anything if you do not offer with love. Though you cry to Him with pride, He will never accept it.
He accepts only those offerings that are offered with love.
Now you may ask: Will Krishna accept if I offer meat with love?
(Will a person’s offering meat to Krishna considering Him a son be accepted? READ HERE!)
Here too, He will not accept it. Why? Though you say that you have offered with love, it is actually not so.
Why? Think like this:
You love a girl. You invite her to your house for a feast. You know very well that she likes “Apple Juice” much and dislikes Grape juice. She comes to your house. How will you treat? Will you treat her with plenty of Grape Juice? You are aware that she prefers apple juice only. So, you will order variety of apple juice and make her happy.
Since you love her much, you will offer her only those items that she prefers/ likes much. You are aware if you offer grape juice, that means you do not know about your lover. Without knowing the lover well, how can you love her deeply? Impossible. Isn’t it?
Similarly, if you really love Krishna, you would have known which food Krishna prefers much. You are also aware that Krishna has said in Bhagavad Gita that He prefers just water, a leaf, a flower, fruit, etc…He has not listed chicken, mutton, fish, etc. Had He listed, you can offer them. He Himself have said that WE CAN OFFER SIMPLE SATVA GUNA FOOD. THAT TOO SIMPLE. NO NEED FOR RICH BHOGA. But, He specifies only one condition. Offer them with Love.
(Should one Offer food to Krishna in meat eating families? READ HERE!)
So, it is clear that if you do not offer even the best vegetarian feast for pride without love to Krishna, He will not accept it if it is offered.
Mean time, though you offer simple vegetarian food to Him WITH LOVE, He happily accepts it.
And, IF YOU TRUELY LOVE KRISHNA, YOU WILL OFFER ONLY WHAT HE LIKES! So, If you offer meat to Him, that means, you do not love Him.
Then, How Krishna will accept that food since you don’t love Him?
So, there is no chance for a devotee offering meat for Krishna. It can not happen. If he offers, he is not a devotee and hence lord will not accept anything from a non-devotee, as non-devotees have no love for Krishna.
Though you offer meat to a demigod, it will not reach Krishna. Kaali matha is not a satva guna deity. So, she may accept meat. But, Krishna accepts only satva guna food. If you offer satva guna food through kali with love, she will pass it to the Lord and Lord accepts it.
But, there is a major secret. The show of love to Krishna through demigods will never be equal to our direct love with Krishna. Show, approach Krishna directly through a spiritual master.
(Is Offering love instead of Food to Krishna acceptable? READ HERE!)
Why NO to Kaali devi, but YES to spiritual master?
Because Kaali may accept meat, because she is a thamo and rajo guna deity. But, Vaishnavas, particularly our spiritual master is the direct representative of Krishna and he will be dominated with Satva guna. So, he never violates the devotional rules.
Whether you offer directly or through demigods, any offering will reach Krishna only if it is offered with love. So, a devotee who loves Krishna will offer only those things that Krishna likes.
Chant Hare Krishna and DIRECTLY connect with the Lord. And, give respects to Kaali, Sarasvathi, etc.
Hope you are clear If we offer meat to a demigod, does it go to Krishna?
