Is the love between two devotees Material love or Spiritual love?

A girl devotee (Name hidden) asked like this:

“Is it ok if a devotee fall in love with a devotee ? Still even that love will be material?”

REPLY:

Ha Ha.  Interesting one.

If two materialistic persons love, it is material love.

If two devotees love?  Is it spiritual love?

What is the differences between Material love or Spiritual love?

This is your question.

Love between two persons can’t be fully spiritual. We can give some spiritual purpose for loving a devotee.  There are serious conditions to make a love for spiritual purpose.

Love between any two persons on this earth is material only until they are in the conditioned state.

See, Spiritual love means – it is related to the athma-soul.

So, the first point is, Love of an athma with Krishna alone is spiritual love.

When the athma is in conditioned state, we will be acting for body only and will see a girl as a girl and a boy as a boy.

When a person is liberated from the material desires, he will see everyone as Krishna and then love them.  This is called Spiritual love.

That means, loving Krishna alone is spiritual love. Or, Seeing Krishna in someone and loving her/ him is also spiritual love.

Nice, isn’t it?

If a boy sees Krishna in his wife and the wife sees Krishna in her husband, they will love only to serve Krishna.  So, that love can be called spiritual love.

Do you and your lover have such a view of seeing Krishna in each other?

Then, it is the spiritual love.

Usually, we are using this material love to marry a person and perform spiritual/devotional services.

This does not mean our love is spiritual.  Only if we treat our spouse like treating Krishna seeing Krishna in him/ her and fulfilling a certain set of rules for grahasthas, we can call our love as spiritual.

In Sri Ramanuja’s Pastimes on this earth, there was an associate of Sri Ramanuja, called Kuraththaalvar (Actual name was Kuresan).

He married a dedicated devotee of the Lord with the name Andal.

Andal had serious dosha in her horoscope that her husband will die if he has physical relations with her.  So, her marriage was getting delayed.

(Naga Dosha (or) Rahu-Ketu Dosha (or) Sarpa Dosha – Details & Parihars! READ HERE!)

At a point of time, her marriage was arranged with a groom, who is one of the employees of Kuresan.  However, on hearing about the dosha, that person escaped from the village and went somewhere.

(MANGAL / MANGLIC/ MANGALYA / MARS DOSHA IN MARRIAGE- COMPLETE DETAILS WITH SCIENTIFIC REASONS AND REMEDIES! READ HERE!_

Kuresan, who had decided not to marry in his life, took the responsibility and assured that he will marry Andal.

Andal requested him that they should avoid physical contacts throughout the life because she can’t allow her dosha affect his life.

Kuresan agreed and then married Andal.

As assured, they served the Lord together without even a trace of contamination of physical relations.

They did not even tell that they love each other.  They just married ONLY TO SERVE THE LORD.   No physical relations even to get devotee children.

Because, a few doshas are very severe that can not be nullified by Parihars. So, Andal decided so.

This love can be classified as Spiritual love.  Because they did not have any expectations/ attachments between them.

In case two devotees live like this, we can add this in the list of spiritual love.

However, if we use the physical relations and the love as recommended by the scriptures, it can be considered spiritual because Krishna says that such regulated Kama is actually Himself.

(I love Krishna, but, I am unable to love the people of this world. What to do? READ HERE!)

See, because we use this body for Krishna, we do not get karma, but, the body will remain as material only. It will contaminate after we leave that body.

Because  you marry for serving the Lord, you will not acquire any karma in having love and physical relations, but, the love is not spiritual unless you had followed the grahastha rules strictly, particularly, mating only to get children to serve Krishna.

Why?

We will appreciate the beauty of wife;

We will talk some material things with wife.

We will have some extra time physical relations with wife.

Even we started to love her on seeing her good appearance.   If you do not bother a girl being a severely physically challenged and chose her to marry to serve the lord, that will be fine.  But, how many of us are ready to marry such a girl to serve the lord?

So, appearance and health too matters in our relations with a girl/ boy.  So, it is conditional love.

So, only a very few devotees are eligible to call their love as spiritual.

How can such conditional relations be called spiritual love? A conditional love can’t be spiritual.

All the devotees can not claim their love as spiritual after praising their spouse for her nice appearance and anatomy and after having some extra relations beyond the recommendations, etc, etc.

SO, LOVE BETWEEN A BOY AND GIRL ON EARTH IS BETWEEN A MIND AND ANOTHER MIND and A BODY AND ANOTHER BODY.

Since the mind is material, that love is also material.

Then which love is ABSOLUTELY spiritual on earth?

Love with Krishna.

(How to keep the love for Krishna undiluted for ever? READ HERE!)

Why?

Love with Krishna is between athma and Paramathma Krishna.

Athma and paramathma are purely spiritual.

There can be no contaminations or mistakes in the love between the athma and paramathma.

And, Krishna is Like Sun.

The Sun burns all the contaminations when someone associates with it.

So, we will be purely spiritual athmas when we associate with Krishna and see Krishna in everyone and everything.

So, love between us and Krishna is Purely Spiritual.

Only if the couples are able to see Krishna in each other and live for serving Krishna following the recommended system of mating to get devotee children, then, we can call that as Spiritual Love.

Hope you are clear now about whether the love between two devotees Material love or Spiritual love.
