Love cultivates Athma – Story
(The Story written by me (admin) based on the incident in the Scriptures)
Yajnavalkya was the incarnation of Brahma deva.
Yajnavalkya or Yagyavalkya is a Hindu Vedic sage figuring in the “Brihadaranyaka Upanishad”.
Yajnavalkya proposes and debates metaphysical questions about the nature of existence, consciousness and impermanence and the universal Self and Ātman.
Yajnavalkya decided to desert the family and take Sanyasa ashrama.
He called his two wives.
He told them that he likes to accept Sanyasa ashrama.
The second wife Maitreyi politely told him:
“This world has all the wealth. Though I get this world itself, using those wealth of earth, can I get the boon of the life without death?”
Yajnavalkya replied:
“No, it is impossible. Your life will also be like those who are enjoying the worldly pleasures. Using the wealth, one can’t get the life without death”
Maitreyi asked:
“If it is so, What can I do using the wealth you give to us for our protection before taking Sanyasa?”
She continued:
“You yourself desert these wealth to get the life without death! Then, why do you leave these wealth to us that can’t elevate us?”
Yajnavalkya became speechless.
Maitreyi continuied:
“If you want to do good for us, tell us too the path that you have chosen to get the life without death.”
Yajnavalkya was pleased with the genuine request of Maitreyi.
He said:
“What you said gives me great satisfaction. Hear attentively what I say. A husband shows his love to his wife not to please her. This Love is considering her as athma. Loving the wife, children, relations, and even wealth is because of cultivating the athma. If you understand the athma, you will understand everything.”
What is the meaning of his reply?
When we show our love for someone, we get a satisfaction. That satisfaction encourages us to show our love to everyone. When we love everyone, our athma gets satisfied..
So, Let us Love all. But without attaching to them.
