What is the Loss if we do not follow devotion in this birth?
A male devotee (Name hidden) asked like this:
“Anna. I am unable to focus on devotion in this life. I fear for missing this birth also because one after other, I am getting problems. what I lose if I live a material life now, why should I live for krishna now? Please explain.”
REPLY:
We have got this human body after so many births.
But, many of us do not realize the uniqueness of this human birth.
If you observe the society now a days, the people are very busy in adding more and more temporary belongings and pleasures.
In fact, they do not have time even to rest.
They are working like bulls without realizing that they are losing their age day by day.

They work hard without knowing this loss of age and one day leave this world.
During their last moments, they review their activities in their past life. They are unable to find anything productive in their life so far.
(i) They have eaten in hurry every day amidst their heavy works. But, the animals do this still better. They eat in a relaxed mood, not in a hurry like us.
(ii) They have enjoyed the sexual pleasures as much as possible and flied in the sky for 5-10 minutes. Still they are unable to get full satisfaction till their death. But, there are many animals that are experts in sex than men. Even dogs can mate for 30-60 minutes whereas a man can not do more than a few minutes.
Man spends nearly 8 hours out of their life time in sleeping alone. In the remaining 16 hours of the time he spends about 1.5 hours for eating and he also wastes his time in many ways. But, even birds are busier than man in collecting and saving for their off-season days. Even ants save their food for rainy days cleverly.
Man also defends himself by building houses with the costly lock and key and he develops envy against even innocent people if they want to achieve something. Whereas, almost all the animals defend themselves, but they attack others only if they are in threat from them.
Thus, the man wastes his life time by living like animals only. In fact, from the above mentioned facts, we can conclude that even animals are living better than men. They live as per their pre-programmed manner.

But, man is always busy in violating the social rules meant for them. They find a thrill in violations. So, they consider the straight forward people as ignorant people and consider themselves as intelligent.
They do not realize that only humans can think of God and their relations with the God. They only can take efforts to go back to their original place of living with God.
God sends many acharyas and spiritual personalities to help the people to elevate themselves. But, these men consider the followers of these acharyas as those who do not know how to live.
This human birth is a rare opportunity for us to understand and get convinced about God and His status and also our status compared to God.
Let them be busy in wasting their time in adding more and more material belongings. Atleast the intelligent people like us, may take our sincere efforts to get the mercy of God , of course Krishna, in this rare human birth itself.
Otherwise, we will leave this life with total dissatisfaction and take more and more painful births.

Again studies, again job hunting, again dissatisfaction, again diseases and again painful death.
Again the disturbances of Maya.
Thus, there are heavy loss if we do not follow devotion in this birth.
Whereas, If we follow devotion to Krishna, there are two chances:
(i) We can stop further births and deaths and go back to Krishna permanently.
(ii) Or, if we have not fully achieved perfection in devotion, we will get painless and happy life in the next birth to follow devotion still better.
Thus, we lose nothing if we follow devotion to Krishna in this birth.
But, the Loss if we do not follow devotion in this birth is our peace and bliss if we do not follow devotion seriously.
