Why should we hear about Krishna and get Hari Nam ONLY from a Pure Vaishnava?

Why should we hear about Krishna and get Hari Nam ONLY from a Pure Vaishnava?

How can the Pure Hari Nam be contaminated if we hear from a Non Vaishnava?

Yes.  Hari Nam can’t be contaminated, but, it will not have full potency if we hear from non vaishnava.

We must hear from pure vaishnava to get full benefits.  As said by you,  Srila Sanatana Gosvami says this  in his ‘Hari-bhakti-vilasa’:

avaisnava-mukhodgirnam putam hari-kathamrtam

sravanam naiva kartavyam sarpocchistam yatha payah

One should not hear anything about Krsna from a Non-Vaisnava.   Milk touched by the lips of a serpent has poisonous effects; similarly, talks about Krishna given by a non-vaishnava are also poisonous.”

You have asked how the Lord’s Name will get impurified if heard through a non-vaishnava.   Actually, Hari Nam can not be contaminated.  Because, there is no difference betwen Bhagawan and His Name.  However, Hari Nam is like an object of the highest standard.  If it is handled by a pure vaishnava, it is delivered as it is without any decrease in potency.

Unless a preacher chants hare Krishna and / or Gayathri Manthra as much as possible DAILY, he adds severe karma of passing the messages of Krishna and His Name without purity.

This is conformed below:

Srila Bhakthi Siddhantha Sarasvathi  (Guru of Srila Prabhupada) says this ‘alarming’ point:

Preaching without proper conduct falls within the category of karma, mundane activity. Without criticizing the nature of others, one should correct one’s self.  This is my personal instruction.

If we desire to follow an auspicious course in life, then disregarding the theories of even countless people we should hear instructions only from a transcendental source.

Life as an animal, bird, insect, or any other of the countless thousands of species is acceptable, but taking shelter of deceit is thoroughly improper. Only an honest person possesses real auspiciousness.

Krishna’s darshana can only be attained through the medium of the ear as one hears hari-katha from pure Vaishnavas; there is no other way.”

Thus,  as said by Srila Bhakti Siddhantha  Sarasvathi, though a person speaks of Krishna in preaching, if his conduct  is highly materialistic, it is not effective in producing results.  It is just an activity that causes karma for us.  This clearly means that one should be very pure in following vaishnava qualities while preaching.  Otherwise, if he himself is involving in fruitive activities,  his preaching will not be effective and will not make others pure.

Sun is very powerful.  It can not be actually hidden from falling on earth.  However, if  it is allowed to pass through a dark coloured glass plate, it temporarily reduces the nature of the light from the sun.  That means, sun is not affected.  Its rays have been temporarily coloured.   If the same sun rays fall on a clear  colourless glass plate, it is allowed to pass as it is.

The same teacher takes lessons in a class.  One student scores centum score.  Others score less.  Does this mean, the teacher is defective?  No, the recepient is defective.

Lord Krishna is present as Paramathma in the hearts of all the living beings.  The dogs can never realize His presence because they are ignorant and their knowledge has been hidden.  However, Lord is still present in them.  Paramathma is present also in the hearts of aetheists.  But, they do not realise His presence as he is in the mode of ignorance.  This mode of ignorance prevents Paramathma from being realised by that man.  However, if that man purifies his heart through saadhanas, Paramathma shows His presence to that person.

What these examples show?  Lord and His Name is originally pure and powerful and can not be contaminated.  If it is received through a pure vaishnava, it is passed as it is to others.  if it is passed by mundane materialistic persons, he is not able to pass the Name and message with its full potency.

So, RESULT IS:  Krishna’s Name is pure and powerful.  If a vaishnava gives it to you, it is passed to you as it is.  If it is said by a mundane materialistic person, it does not cause much changes in the heart of the Lord, because, he could not pass it with its full potency.

TAIL PIECE:  We ourselves are pure athma.  As we are allowing ourselves under the control of maya, we could not realize Krishna.  If we detach ourselves from the clutches of maya, Krishna is realised by us.

Hope you are clear.
